Relic has been a major source of my headaches in getting out a compatibility patch...  I'm really sorry for all the time it's taking you have no idea what I've been banging my head against.

I don't understand why they broke mod compatibility in the first place. It can't have been that hard to keep all mods working...

i doubt they have many people working on CoH anymore, so the quickist and easiest way was probibly what they used, not the most mod friendly....

Yea they seem to have killed both the mod & map community.
(Although there's some new mods popping up but none are as coding complex as EiR I bet)

Hopefully you can't work it out fl-.

relic are fools if they think that supporting mods is a waste of time, people buy games BECAUSE of a cool mod they heard of, or friends get told to buy it so they can play a mod with each other.... etc, BF2 was still getting sales becuse of the huge modding communinty....

Patches cost money to make. Okay; The cost A LOT of money, somewhere around the 10,000 dollar mark to make one patch. You have to pay for all the staff to work on that patch, then you have to pay for the QA process. Then when that that all done what do you get?

Nothing, Nothing but a bunch of whining shits who have nothing better to do than to pick apart your 1-3 months worth of labour and call you all the names under the sun because they think you've done a terrible job.

Now, I don't know about you; but if I spent 1-3 months working on something that I see no return for and all I get in the end is people complaining about me and how shit I am. I don't know; I would most likely tell them all to fuck themselves.

Point is; Expect nothing because Relic doesn't owe you anything. You paid for the game and you got the game. Patches are a bonus, they are not a certainty and I am getting fed up with reading whining bullshit every time I log onto a forum about Relic or CoH and how they are doing a bad job.

Akranades, your point of view is wrong. If a company releases a product, and that product has glitches, it is bound to improve that product. Patches for computer games are a must. Not only for the better enjoyment of players, but to secure current and future customers, to make more money. Relics patching policy has been problematic in the past, and mistakes like with the current one just cannot happen. They are cutting their own flesh with unprofessionality like that, they lose money.

Of course players bitch, and although it isnt very helpful at all, it shows the disappointment and is understandable. The whole procedure of downloading the patch, patching it, deinstalling it, installing it, patching it has cost me about 2 hours.

But we should all remember what a great game relic gave us with CoH. And if this whole mess has one good side, it is that relic will test twice next time before releasing. They are a young company and have yet to gain some experience.

Apex, You are wrong. Show Me a clause in the EULA that states anything relating to the company supplying Patches to improve their product... BANG! There is none!

Patch are handed when the PRODUCER says so, if THQ was to tomorrow said to Relic "Forget Patching Company of Heroes, move on" there is nothing Relic could do to change that. Patches will only continue for as long as the Producer wants it to. I am not saying that games don't need patches so don't put words in my mouth. I am saying that they are not a given when you buy a game.

You buy games AS IS and anything that cames afterwards is a bonus.

I have more experience understanding Relic's patching process than you do, and I know what I am talking about.

I never talked about a law that says they have to release patches, mr. experienced in what he is talking about. I was talking about economical survival. If you dont care about a game after release, customers will be less likely to buy the next game or suggest it to their friends. Doesnt have anything to do with your great knowledge about developer dependance from producer.

Compare it to a car. You buy one, and it has a built in problem with the stereo. The car manufacturer may not be bound by law to fix that, but bound by economic sense. You are not going to buy a second car from that brand, or advise it to your friends, if such things are not fixed automatically for free. So post release repairs are a sure thing to do, if only because of profits. Relic wanted to fix the stereo and broke the engine while doing so.

You are putting it as if we should be grateful that the car manufacturer fixes the broken parts which were his fault in the first place, and should therefore not criticise when half the car breaks down in the process.

Relic messed up big with the last patch and that cannot be denied, and peoples reactions are comprehensible.
