Actually I thought the recoil on launching rifle grenades is supposed to be significant, which is why I thought you often see them being launched with the buttstock on the ground from an angle akin to a mortar. They also developed a bullettrap type rifle grenades that did not require the use of a blank.

I could agree with this but scatter would have to be greatly improved so that you have to stop to use but when you do it has a REASONABLE chance to come within damaging distance.

quite inefficient and it seems this is the one placed on the ground.

heck, if you look up a guy using just a tennis ball on youtube, he places it on the ground to fire.
