Having seen over 5 hours or more of combined live gameplay footage, I can tell you that the demo is horrible.

There are only two levels, the first is the first tutorial level were what to do is 100% our of your control, fully scripted.
The second level is also a scripted level however you do have full control after the initial turn, the enemies/ai is setup to provide no challenge at all and it's on an easy difficulty.

Hell, there has been digging done in the Config files and apparently hotkey shortcuts and functions (like free cam) that are supposed to be in the full game are unbound in the demo, however they sit there right in the config files, possibly for ease of a console/pc demo without to much effort? why the demo seems to be such a sloppy job is another question entirely.

The most credible guess seems to be it's a modified version of the press build that was send out about 2 weeks back, would explain the almost finished but unbound stuff anyway. All in all, it's a pretty terrible demo, at best all I'd use it for is to test if the game runs ok on your system or not, I would however not base any purchase decision on it.

And there you have it folks, Vermillion!

- Enjoys no challenge at all
- Enjoys 100% handholding
- Enjoys unfinished PC:UI
- Enjoys mouse acceleration issues with no setting outside of config files
- Downloading 5.5gig when 3.5 of those are excess files the devs forgot to take out

If a bad, halfassed demo is a bad halfassed demo you call it as such, the fact that you didn't seem to notice any of this yet are so opinionated on other things really does reek. Better yet, if you enjoyed the demo that means you are planning to play the game on easy at the very best, because that demo required about as much brainpower as you seem to put into your posts.

And this is commin from a guy who preordered Xcom over two weeks ago.

Well, for the record I could care less about the 5.5 gig download. I don't know what sort of internet usage your parents pay for in Sweden, but I can certainly afford to download however much I want.

The reason why I enjoyed the demo was because it allowed me to get a feel for exactly how they were putting the game together. The tutorial mission was a necessary evil in such a demo. I could care less about mouse acceleration issues, considering I didn't have them. I managed to get a decent feel of how the base aspect of the game would work, and I also got a peek at the soldier customization, which was a nice touch. I like the ability to personalize squad members. The second mission was obviously the highlight, seeing as it gave you control over the squad for the first time. I happened to enjoy it, as it gae me some time to explore the tactics of the game, i.e., the destructible environments and such.

I'll admit that it being short was disappointing, but it did in fact influence my decision of whether or not to pre-purchase it. I saw no reason to be exploring the hotkey setup, seeing as it was just a demo. If the 5.5 gigs is worth that much that you fly into a fit of nerd rage upon seeing your expectations dashed, perhaps you should instead save some bandwidth and stop downloading that soft cartoon pornography you occasionally show off on your avatar.

Implying I've had any hopes or dreams crushed, and makes me doubt you actually read my post.

See, from all the gameplay I've seen I can tell you backed up by fact and info if you need it, that, the demo was indeed horrible. The tutorial did not show you any of the base customizing (And I've seen that stuff trough other vids) not did it really show you any extent of the squad customization, it did not let you construct any building nor let you view them in details. Not to mention you got virtually no info at all on how the overworld works aside from "You have to pick between missions sometimes".

This, is why I can tell you that it is a BAD demo and the fact that you did not notice the issues I pointed out, well. Normally I wouldn't care. On top of this the demo seems to misrepresent the difficulty of the game on any level above easy. The problem here is that you yourself seem to love pointing out issues in other games and claiming you have an informed opinion while in this case what you are saying runs pretty contradictory to that. And for the record? My internet is pretty damn decent but that does not excuse developer sloppiness, you know what all those extra gigs are? All of the video files from the full game, so beware of spoilers!

It's funny how you invoke nerd rage, yet there never was any to begin with, it was simply calling a bad demo for what it is. Speaking of that last part, the word you are looking for is anime. I have to give you credit thou, it's been a very long time since I heard someone use the term "Soft core pornography" like that, even if it is pretty inappropriate, lol.

Anyway, basically? If you are going to nitpick some games, do it to others, have some bloody consistency and drop that fucking attitude and maybe you'd actually get along with someone. I still cant for the life of me figure out what you're even doing on these forums where not a single soul likes you and you seemingly never actually play the game, then again, maybe that's because you make even Bearsoul and Chain look like pro's in comparison, I wouldn't really want to live with that either.

My total disgust for Vermillion aside, the game seems great and I'd recommend anyone on the fence to check out the numerous gameplay and developer livestreams that have been ran, it'll give you a much better idea than the demo does.

it was a BAD demo, but i had fun playing it and it does give a short pathetic glimpse of things you can do outside of combat. Really hated the "hey you must move to this exact exact spot" in the first mission. and the second had like no aliens. Still.

Honestly...the demo did persuade me to buy the game.

not sure if im going to do the PC version though. unless there is a slew of awesome features on PC im going to get this on xbox.

Implying I'm consistently performing a certain aforementioned activity, and also conveniently answering your earlier query.
