recent mega release disaster game for me is the new MOH.

The one in 2010 was obviously going the COH route. But not to bad. It had its own thing going on.
But this one..... just plain copied it.
Millions of dollars, months of work, training with SEALs, and they released some of the biggest BS i ever played. Straight up no innovation. Yet selling like hotcakes.

And plenty plenty plenty plenty of PC exclusives that play like they are designed for mindless retarded 8 year old games. Yet i hear PC elitist still bitch about consoles dumbing down games, when PC support dumbed down games at about 20xs the rate.

Modern MoH is on ALL platforms, Wii U, xbox, playstation and windows, so if you're using that as the base, then my point applies.

btw, the best MoH game of all time (allied assault) is PC exclusive. The rest (except for pacific assault) were on consoles and/or PC.

even Dice agrees with me.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

i was just talking about a crappy game that came out. not really discussing either side.

but are we talking about game design or the games technical side.

both are two very very different things.
I think you would without a doubt consoles are holding back PC games on the technical side. But if thats the point of this post... do you really think a crappy 64 player MOH warfighter would be better than a crappy 24 player one.  If thats the case then we got bigger issues here.

for every stupid console game out there, there is 5 PC crappy exclusives supported by 10x the amount of people out there.

and if multiplatform games do well on PC too. Like the COD games. Think PC exclusive gaming is anything to brag about?

I agree shit went down hill the past few years, but I dont see PC gamers doing shit about it really.

Consoles have dumbed down game design too by making extremely linear and easy games with things like auto-aim.

i'm talking about game design. Maybe should've been more clear

Quote
Read an interesting discussion on the Bioware boards about holstering and how some fans wanted to have it in ME3 but Bioware didn't put it in cuz of memory issues, yet it was in ME1 and computers were "smaller" then.

So that got me thinking, it's not cuz of memory for the game but memory for the consoles, and it made me think to other games that were "dumbed down" because they were cross platform and there are things you can do on the PC that you can't do on consoles cuz of memory issues.

Mass Effect is a great example, the exploration, combat and fighting areas were vastly different and IMO better but ME2 and ME3 both came to the console thus were more steamlined for action and the "less is more" philosophy.

I really think if ME stayed PC exclusive, ME2 and ME3 would be banner games that other companies look to and say "i want to do that" but now they can look at it and say "oh, its been done"

In my example, I was speaking of "smaller" in terms of system and ram space, so theres less you can do on consoles, thus it limits what is presented on PC because you aren't going to make a completely different game on all systems, you streamline it so they're all the "same game"

I used ME1 to Me2/me3 because exploring the galaxy, the mods, suits, guns etc were much more varied and kinda borderlandish in ME1, and they totally went away from that in ME2 and made it very simple. It made it more fun in one way and took away the enjoyment of human curiosity and exploration in the other.

should i change the title then o.O since dumbing down is more on the intellectual level and what I'm talking about is more on the gameplay side.

Not everyone thinks that easy is fun and skill is for the most part not the same as twitch reflexes but rather thinking fast, having knowledge of the game and coordinating with a team. You may think it's fun to bicycle with support wheels because it's easier and you don't have to worry about falling but that also means that you are missing out on a great and more exciting experience.

Hey, I wasn't insulting you, people make those mistakes occasionally, it was just unintentionally humorous considering the subject.
