The solution would be to make it so we run the game in -dev by default, thus allowing everyone to view their own preferred custom skins.

I can't do that.  If you understood how easy it is to cheat in -dev mode, you'd know why.

You have to see my skins as well, although I've only done PE.

Using the SkinInstaller tool, you can pack the new skins into the .sga so its usable even without the -Dev.

The problem becomes the distribution of a ww2art.sga file that is 550mb as part of the mod.

So if I get this right the only way you can see the modded skins is to have ww2art.sga correct?  If you dont have that file then you have default skins correct?

Then to me the solution is to put the skins into the mod and then if people want to see the updated skins then to download that file on their own, keeping it out of the install file (adding it to the information and downloads page) and then it is pretty much optional to have or not to have it on their system.

BTW Stranger, I did not read this post before replying to your other one, didnt know FL said he wanted to see your skins Smiley so ignore what I said on the other thread.

Americans don't need modding imho, the american skins are pretty perfect.
Vehicle & tank skins are pretty smooth in vCoH/vOF as well, the problem with customs is that they usually apply some sort of camouflage, making the vehicle pop out way too much in urban/rural maps. Relic did a perfect job in making so that their vehicle skins blend in in all environments.

This also makes the skin addition less heavy on the megabytes.

Imho the most important skin change that should be done in the modification should be axis infantry.
(And possible British/PE later on.)

The Feldgrau is too dark, little lighter with a slight green tinge.

Perfect grenadier skins to be honest Wink.

As for the stormtrooper, they sometimes used camouflage netting on their helmets, worth considering.
