Like more and more tanks? Doesn't Axis already have plenty of vehicles?
The easiest thing is to start making more lulzy infantry units.

Yeah, we are not going to just out and out steal an entirely new army.

From a few glances, even if we were to steal it it's going to need some fixing first

The EF team will have our moddb site taken down for copyright infringement. That is our primary source of traffic. It's the only other place for people to download our mod and it will probably be the only place our EIR2 mod will go once we get it running.

They are the only coh mod aside from N44 which is in their "circle" of mods and dev team. The one time someone from their community goes to them and says "Europe in Ruins have russian units now" it's game over.

I'm pretty sure you cannot copyright materials used in a mod, pretty sure all mods sort of become property of the game they are based on if I recall correctly. Still doesn't make it morally right I suppose. Then again as far as I've seen EF isnt exactly stranger to liberally lifting ideas from other places either *shrugs*

No you are absolutely right, but they've already threatened to do it once because some of our pictures on the moddb site didn't have proper credits for their publicly released models. We got a whole official moddb PM and everything. So, we could do it, but I guarantee you, we loose our distribution service, something that I don't want to risk. So ultimately, it's not the legal definition of ownership that is important, but moddb's policy. Their policy can be whatever they want and if you don't like it, they don't have to carry you.

Plus, it would probably be easier for us to import COH1 models and put them into COH2 than for us to crawl on their knees begging for their permission for the COH1 variants. I imagine that after they had to send that copyright letter, that they don't like us too much.

Yeah CoH 1 in Coh 2 sounds like a much better solution for EIRR instead of the other way around, it's all just a matter of time young padawan hans, patience.

Would the EF team ever consider a collaboration of adding the EF armies to EIRR? Just a silly question but I'm curious

Pretty sure EIRRmod is not keen on releasing the launcher to anyone else, not to mention no one else except OMG would have the infrastructure to make it work.
So, we'd pretty much would be asking for all their custom content with no way to repay them. Sounds like a crappy deal. I wouldn't place my bets on their "satisfaction on seeing their hard work in another mod" when that's their hook to get people to play EF in the first place.

That doesn't make any sense, several COH mods have imported the Russian faction from Eastern Front and have been doing fine. It's a free mod and they don't own any content that they create.
Should definitely add some of those ostheer tanks as reward units.
