Pro Tip I had steam fail to connect for me, wouldn't help till i did a reinstall of the client. This problem usually happens due to a patch corrupting the client. |

Check the steam tech support stuff.
If you need to uninstall/reinstall you can save the game library and it's contents to avoid having to re-download.
It's the same process if you're moving which directory your steam is in.

What you want to do is to remove everything exept the steam apps folder(the one that has the games in and stuff, don't empty I) and the steam exe, run the steam exe and its going to download all of the I'm rtant files and itnsshould woek again.
This is actually one of the offiial ways of reinstalling steam.
