i won antoss up:

everybody knows that i will play AB. Ok axis guy now gets SE or terror or heavy AI blitz. So i am hapy wining toss up ofc and even more happy fighting counter coys. You see  logic of fairness?

it's good to discuss this but i think this has to done with some doctrines being able to do "everything" and some doctrines not so good at everything. so it's doctrines flaw, not tournament.

in a tournament it wont be so "allies op / axis op". cause everyone will try to do most hardcore strategy etc etc

even if a player normally gets owned by OP on his PE, you can be sure that if he's picking PE in tournament he has some strategy that will be good.

also me personally i respect player who can make unusual strat work because of thinking smart and playing enemy expectations.

maybe tournament final game is double tank hunters winning vs infantry/airborne?

who knows.

So what? You don't have to play AB as very anti-tank do you? It doesn't really make any difference to a normal game against people who know what you're playing with anyway.

Having to announce which doctrine you are playing is the opposite of how tournaments usually work. Information like what faction you play, what doctrine, things like that should be hidden because otherwise people will exploit that information and build a company that counters that specific doctrine or faction. EIR even has a tournament option where you can't see the names of the participants. Information like that is hidden so it won't be exploited and lead to gamey tactics.

I agree with pony, players should not know each other's setup before game.

My idea is the following: everyone should be able to choose 2 doctrines / side, and send those doctrine choices (4/player) to you before the tournament. This would give the team a sort of flexibility, and making them less predictable by future opponents about what they are going to play. 2x2 different variations, not to mention the possibility to change doctrine unlocks thus making it even more difficult to forecast the strategy for the upcoming game.

Okay, a few people are aghainst this, what do you suggest in order to mitigate the disadvantage the team that loses the toss is at then?

Perhaps the team that loses the toss gets top choose the map?

Hmm.. Maybe the team with the highest teamscore of the first 2 games gets the chance to choose? Or the team with the worse average scores?

How is there a winner or a loser in the coin toss? it's just to decide who plays which side.

I don't want scores involved at all, too arbitrary.

How is there a winner or a loser in the coin toss? it's just to decide who plays which side.

Because if it goes to three games, the team that gets to pick first gets to play their preferred faction twice, which doesn't seem particularly fair to me.

Well you either rely on luck(coin) or performance(scores) to decide it. The former one doesn't seem too fair for me.

What is there to pick? The coin toss decides which sides you play. It doesn't get any more fair than that.

Say for example, Gorkhali and AlphaTIG.

We all know Gorkhali prefers Axis to Allies by a mile.

Let's say Gorkhali's team loses the toss, and their opponents choose to play as Axis.

Gorkhali is nowhere near as proficient with Allies as Axis, and he'll only get to play Axis once, and potentially Allies twice. Do you see what I mean?

Anyway, I don't see how else it could be done, if people are against revealing the toss winners companies then the loser will just have to deal with it I guess.

In an ideal world, there will be 4 more teams (my fake ones don't count)

So, Crazy needs a partner, so does XIIcorps.

Anybody else want to get involved?

Might join depending on dates, any approximation?

Depends on the general consensus I guess, I don't think there's any rush, and there's no need for the tournament to be over quickly anyway, I can see it taking a few weeks easily Smiley

I'd be willing to take in XII or Crazy into my team (if they want of course)
