Virtual machines are slow and take time to set up, it's not a good solution.

Use this patching tool to get rid of strange colors and graphical issues in win95/98 games.

www.gog.com/forum/general/windows_7_directdraw_compatibility_fixes_or_how_to_fix_the_strange_colors_in_game_x/

I've tested it on Fallout 1, Gangsters: Organized Crime and The Entente: Battlefields World War I and it works smoothly on win7. Use the automated w7ddpatcher.

I am having one issue, units don't seem to fire until they get in close range and having to individually click on every soldier each time I want to attack doesn't work well and it makes machine guns useless.

Only thing I can thing of is that I am using the unpatched version, but I can't get 1.3 to work, it just goes blackscreen on win7.
