well i got SOASE comming up, ive also recently been playing Call of duty 4 and its awesomeness
on top of that, my friends are finally enjoying VCOH

i think im going to get them into a LOCKED EIR game (were only the 4-6 of us) play eachother.

It's pretty fun.
Don't worry, it's the way of things, a new game comes out and everyone plays it for a little bit and they all eventually go back to EiR . The same happened with Faces of War.

SOASE is BORING, I mean hell if I wanted to sit and play a single sim/rts game for hours I could sit and play Civilization, at least that is a good game.

Since you lot were playing Beta 3, you probably noticed the "Not supposed to be fun" label. ;p

Civilisation is awesome indeed, but it lacks good multiplayer & combat imho .

and that has it? I found the multiplayer "okay" the combat system was and is trash, it takes ages to get your ships to where they need to be if you are aiding a ally, even if you have the improved jumps and whatever else there is (I know because in the game I did play I researched everything--tells you how long of a game it was).  Its another RTS that is dependent upon who has the biggest armada and best research done, no skill involved in it at all.  In the end i was bored, and left after 5 hours of playing.

I agree that it pretty much comes down to having the biggest fleet and fastest tech, the combat part is also what I dislike the most about the game atm. The combat requires little to no additional effort other than massing a horde of ships and attacking and in the end the space battles aren't nearly as "exciting" as they could be. Then again, that's how it is in many other RTS, I've never been a big fan of RTS' aside from AoE series, Commander & Conquer generals & Company of Heroes.

The overall gameplay is great though, just a shame the average game takes like 2 - 6 hours, in that time you can play 2 - 6 EiR games and you will have seen a lot more action .

C&C gern´s was one of the best game imo. With tactics you coud win even a lost game

Always played GLA - Terror Bikes for the Win.

if you play cnc gen zero hour YOU HAVE TO GET THE SHOCKWAVE MOD. it is basicly another expantion it is so well done.

Looks like a bit more fancy effect´s and super powers, however in ver. 1.00 there will be naval units for all sides!
