Anyway, we have a seperate TS, so you can be on TS and Vent at the same time (comes in handy when looking to see if a game is coming up of either one).

Anyway, we'll keep from playing on the Vent server as FL- asked us nicely not to do it. However, he DID say I could post up the info for Sins on these forums as many of us in the community value playing together no matter what game it is.

All I have to say on the matter of closed Vent is this, I came to try EiR. I stayed because of the people playing. Thats what kept your players together through 3 months of EiR downtime, and I think it should be valued a little higher than the minority complaining because nobody wanted to play with them. Whats next?

Anyway: VENT 63.209.18.159:3796

Quit bitching Wink.

Anyway, I'll see if I can get this because it's an awesome game but seems like online distribution is my only option Sad.
Might buy a GFX card first.

AMPM screw your Team speak server

My vent server can hold 20 people, only about 5-7 people are on it at any one time, just ADD SINS to your comment for the first few days, the information for my vent server follows.

Playing EIR games wont be tolerated, use the community vent for that, i wont shard the community.

I think I'll purchase it online sometime this week.
I'll be around to play it for a day or two or so as well, after that or if not count me in for some games next week fo' sure.

Who else is getting it?
The more the merrier for online gaming!

After all the ruckus I finally searched for this game, was surprised to see it ranked so high on GameSpot, I think #33 for PC.  I'd never heard of it.  Wink

I can't even attempt a 4 hour game, so it's out for me, barely can devote 1 hour to a COH game.

Lack of a scripting language really sucks for mods for it - I'm guessing they will only be attribute/model/graphic mods possible.

Not sure what exact tactical elements it has.  Is it mirror-based?  Somewhat mirror-based?  Are battles tactical and require micro, or completely macro?

Based on what I've read, it sounds like a Supreme Commander clone only set in space.  Too many units in play at once controlled by one player generally makes a game completely devoid of strategy.

There's 3 races somewhat mirror-matchted I believe. (although in the beta we could only play one race)
Battles generally don't require a lot of micro, the only somewhat micro that pays off is organising your types of ships and keeping them in the right areas at the right times. On top of that one could argue that the main flagships require some micro to use their special abilities (since they act as "hero" units, like in Warcraft), although you can have the abilities automatically used. Tongue

There's not an excessive amount of units like in Supcom though, you'll definately be controlling a large fleet or even multiple but it generally it all remains easily managable.

Ironically it's not really the combat that makes me want to play this game.
While the combat can definately fun, Company of Heroes combat is a lot more exciting Tongue.
What I love the most is building up, colonising planets, setting up trades, working on diplomacy, researching all kinds of technology and the like.
This is a really exciting aspect of the game but due to its slow pace this is also the aspect that takes the most amount of time.
(So I'm guessing a lot of people will either hate it or love it) Luckily there's also a "fast" speed mode and plenty of ways to save and continue later.

Anyway, I'll be trying it out soon.
I'm also getting a new GFX card so I will definately keep playing an occasional EiR game inbetween.
(First weeks of university are generally calm so I have a lot of time to play... and party Wink)

P.S: oh and the map builder seems really easy because there's not much to "SoaSE" maps other than a 3D background, some planets and some lines connecting them lolz.
