How about maps?

I really woud like 1 tournament map. You know one that is neutral.

If we play with choosen mapīs how do you plan to handle it?

What if i want to defend on Lyon?

another good point, i hadn't thought of maps.. let me look into the choices, will think on this, aswell as attack vrs defend.

could make it 2 games vrs each enemy grouping, 1 attacking, 1 defending... more games that way and more reliable stats.

If the changes aren't doable for 1.9 we'll simply do this in 2.0 with no changes to the system as its presented.. ... would really like to see it in 1.9 instead though Smiley

or we could do both Smiley

2 games per map woud be great. Also great for balance testing. (ATtacker / defender  how has a advantage?)

The problem with some of the limits imposed is that people who want to play fun games are fucked over (kind of) until the tourney ends.

I found an easy solution to this (and less work to the dev team too ^.^)::
Basicly, you get to keep all 3 companies, when you sign up for the tournament, you say which company your gonna use and we can then compile all the peoples who signed in in alphabetical order and writing the company they use for the tourny next to their name.
Thus leaving your other 2 companies over for free play.

Sounds good, should get more interest, although it might be a bit daunting for new players who want to start eir.

One way to do this would be similar to what you use to do on close combat, when ladders where being run on that.

This was an individual thing mind but it required you to lodge the win on a ladder website that you would be registered with.  There would of course a way to verify the result via the online gaming room lobby records but it was based on player input.

If we say look at it this way.   You play your game and then post the result on a thread.   Then the tourny runners, not dev team, they need to focus on 2.0, tallys the results.

You need to play a number of games for your results to count to the competition and then those results are averaged so that those who play heaps don't gain an advantge over those who don't.   The average is used as the ranking tool and the team with the best average wins!

As i said you need a certain number of games to qualify for entering the tourney, a gate opener so to speak, maybe 10 games or somthing like that with the same team member. Obviously if your a better player and find that you can keep winning the more games you play the better your team will get and the better you will be positioned for the semis and finals!!

That way even if you don't play more games you will still have a certain average,  it will also prevent those who play heaps but lose heaps as well from unfairly stacking the results.

Just an idea......... an no im not offering to run the thing.

if you had read it sir, you would know thats basically the idea.. this is NOT a dev team project, all we need is absolutely nothing if they want us to wait till 2.0... OR do the  minor web changes so we can start it now and do it until 2.0 comes out.

the fact that you can only play enemies once on defense and once on attack truly counters the stacking of wins/loses. its a smaller community we can control that easily.

I guess if one person was able to play say 12 games and the next person was only able to play 8 and so on, that could cause a problelm and i'll find some safety measure for that when we begin, i don't expect everyone to be able to play ALL the games available to them, thats not ultimately doable in the time frame we will be working with, but i'll make it as fair as I can, without restricting needlessly

any team you make foo, you just don't get to switch it once it starts, and you can only be in 1.

So, this is what happens when I leave forums for a day or two...seriously, nothing interesting happens when I pay attention.

-Stacked teams would win. Instantly. As someone stated, Ucross+Unknown would be awesome.

If we are simply trying to figure out an individual winner (not a winning team), we could randomly arrange teams, and switch players off to different teams (once again, randomly) after the match. The player with the most wins at the end of six rounds...wins.

Of course, exceptions could be made for people we know have bad connections to others.

thats your choice to play with torjado or not though...  and its about skill.. there are a lot of skilled players around, find someone you play well with and give it ago.. hell the patriots lost, who says you can't beat someone ?

the one thing i forgot about is the original play everyone (one time attacking/one time defending) is a preliminary qualifying time period.  IF We have enough time to do this, it will be followed by an actual play off structured game.

I WILL NOT PUT ANY RESTRICTION ON THE TEAMS YOU MAKE, if your interested in running some crappy random teamed event, go for it, your time your buck, not mine.  Not even slightly going to happen.

I don't care if my first opponent is ampm and skunker, they are beatable when we're on even company terms, as is unknown and lai.  This is your chance to try and prove your skilled at playing, or that you just don't have it..
