Î think yu can join one of the major country, too.

Woud love to have yu around, too!

Links to patches anyone?

And what more do I need besides those patches and the dl stuart posted?

What does IC mean? Whats CW? How do VP work?

IC = Industrial Capacity, basically what you build your Army with.
CW ... i dunno :-)
VPs are easy. Certain Provinces have a certain VP Value(ranging from 1-35 or something). Moscow or Berlin have very high VP values while unimportant provinces have 1 or none. whoever has the most VP by a certain date(historical ending of the war for example) wins.
depending on the rules however VPs might be unimportant. for example in certain ruleset the german player wins if he can survive till the historical end of the war.
you dont really need anything besides the game and the patches but here: http://www.hoi2icon.prv.pl/  you can download additional sprites that beef up the interface. i recommend getting those ... they look far superior to the standard ones.

for new players reading some off the After Action Reports might give you an Idea of how MP works: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=280

I'll take Japan.  I'm not so sure how well this is going to run with so many players, though.  If it winds up being too laggy, I'll be willing to step out.

Torjado currently controls Germany, youd have to ask him if he wants to share.

It should be ok, the game doesnt use a whole lot of resources.

Why not take a minor Axis power then?

And no, I'm not really interested in partnership  Cheesy

As far as Germany and I are concerned, Flack is my team mate if he gets his stuff working. I may take more players, but I'd rather have things spread out a bit more ( Finland can bugger with Russia and other countries can do stuff too)

Yeah I don't suggest letting the Japanese get a large foothold on the continent Tongue

All of you guys who haven't played before are going to be...overwhelmed, probably.

Oh most definitely NEVER blob. You get SEVERE penalties for attacking with more troops than your highest level general/officer in the area can maintain.

Do's and Don't's of attacking:

-Never attack across a river (unless you have engineer brigades to bridge)
-Never "overstack" your armies (attack with too many)
-Attack from multiple sides (time the attacks to hit at the same time)
-Don't attack during the winter
-Perhaps give your armies bonus supplies for an offensive
-Use region appropriate troops (mountaineers in the mountains)
-Have better upgraded troops and better doctrine (more organization) bonuses.

It's really, really complex. It usually takes a full reading of the manual (or two) plus having played several games (start as a small power or in a small scenario [Spanish Civil War?], then move on to bigger, land-based powers) to get the hang of it.

blobbing troops doesnt help all the time in HOI2 you have to know the terrain effects and also you have to have the right generals leading your men. have a look at the manuel when u have the full game and that should help you alot.
