That patch side is russia, direct dl link plz?

the menu is in english and its polish, not russian i think  Wink
anyway, download the dd_land dd_naval and dd_land files and put them in the appropriate folder.
but make a copy of the folder before you do that. the sprites are for doomsday which basically should mean nothing more then that there are additional pics for units that arent in hoi2. my guess is it should work without problems but make a copy just to be on the safe side.
heres how they look btw: http://www.star.net.pl/~scytth/hoi2/page/icon.html

and what to do and what not do depends a lot on your doctrines.
a larger carrier fleet as germany for example doesnt make a lot of sense.
same goes for land units. USSR can stack to no end cause thats what their doctrines are about. high moral and they regain org very fast while the german doctrine for example has very high org with average morale but they regain org very slow. so basically the germans have to make their usual breakthrough and encircle blitzkrieg attacks while russia just stacks and overwhelms you cause their units while be ready for combat again way faster then the germans.
id say, unless you have played at least 2-3 grand campaigns you really dont know your way around the game ;-)

My first game I actually LOST as the Soviet Union. it was pretty embarrassing when they took Stalingrad, Leningrad and Moscow. I don't think I won ANY battles cause of the rocking German org.

Uh, I fear for the horrors for lagfest. Three player games lag quite a bit, once I tried a four player game it was unbearable. If you have found a way to bypass the lagfest, please tell. The lag was what stopped me from playing.

I cant even finish the freaking combat toutorial!
Select all your units and order a simple attack order; Done, 10007ß0971 man vs 1 - you have been defeated ahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Wtf, dude...

Okay still unable to finish the 2end toutorial after several trys. The first region is no propleme to take, but after that evry attack fails horrificly.

Flanking maneuvers? Are they fortified to hell? What season is it? Is it mountainous terrain? Are your men supplied? What doctrines do you have researched? What model infantry are you running? What model infantry are they researching? What doctrines do they have researched? What generals do you have under the command of the division? Who is your army minister?

When the battles are going on you can hover over the little icons that appear below the leader portraits to see negative/positive effects on battle.

if one of those is stacked or whatever, then that's the problem. If you're attacking with more than your highest level attacking leader can support, you will be penalized.

EDIT: Gamma has the correct numbers below.

When defending I believe the stacking rules change. Your general's effective support doubles.

Some tips for you all.

Try to group your Armor divisions with other Armor divisions. Same would apply for Mechanized and Motorized divisions. You want to be able to maximize the speed of each group.

Mechanized and Motorized divisions move extremely slow in provinces with low infrastructure.

Make sure you have plenty of smaller ships to escort your larger ships. This is known as screening in the game. You do not want to lose your capital ships. They take anywhere from 1-2 years to complete.

Never risk your Airborne infantry if you know you wouldn't be able to open a beachhead for them to reach safety. Airborne divisions take about 9 months to train and almost doubled the amount of resources. They aren't that much better than infantry and you're better off not using them unless you've played for quite a while. Even than, there's nothing an overwhelming land can't handle.

When island hopping in the Pacific, make sure you have fleets covering the area around the island you're attacking. This will cut off your enemy's supply line and allow your transports to safely land.

Well the problem thtb is there really arent any other factions left for you to choose without leaving Japan as a computer which wouldnt be ideal.

You can ask one of the others if they would prefer to switch with you.  However being a smaller faction doesnt really mean easier, in fact a lot of times it will be much harder and you will end up being destroyed quickly.

This is indeed good advice. However, if you group an armor division with a motorized division, you'll get a +15 combat modifier ('combined arms') bonus in combat, which is pretty nifty.

Airborne... aren't that much better than infantry...

Actually, they're worse.

Heh, forgot about the Combined Arms bonus.

Are you sure? I swore Airborne had about 1-2 points above Infantry against soft targets.
