Okay, here's an idea for an interesting map mechanic: place a minefield  by interspersing mines assigned to both teams.  Then put down minefield warning flags so everyone knows there is a minefield there.  You could use this to create another form of destructible movement blocker on your map.  Because players could choose to use minesweepers or artillery to try to open a path through the field, thus opening up a new access path on the map.

Would also give the crab flail a chance to do its original job!

would enjoy see'ing that. (depending on where the field is)
minesweepers/flails/mineplows would get some interesting usage.

'World' mines don't work.  You have to assign them to a player to make them work properly.

Hey if you assign them equaly to all players, it woud be even better. A advantage for the side that clears it, but no advantage for the others.

According to the "SCAR coding on maps" thread world mines do not work.  So the workaround would have to be mixing in mines assigned to  both teams (so for a 3v3 it would be half the mines for player 1, half for player 4).  So there would be some mines that don't hurt the player, but by mixing them in with hostile mines, you could achieve the desired effect.  Possibly you could even place friendly and enemy mines right on top of eachother.

you *could* put two mines on top of each other so no matter who steps there they die, but then you get the power of two mines killing you not just one...

Kolath faster...

You could have a somewhat symmetrical map with 2 mountain passes that are the same thing but one mountain pass would have one teams mines and the other another teams mines, so it would mean you would have to watch the mountain pass allowing access to your enemy team but you'd be able to clear, and you'd have your own mountain pass you can pass through but they cant.

blah blah, could prove for some interesting scenarios.

Either way, no one should use this unless you're making a fairly large map.  It would be too easy to lock down an area because someone forgot to buy a minesweeper.  Not to mention that you should pattern the mine laying, makes it more realistic and all.

If utilized it could provide a for a slightly different scenario not entirely game changing but opening a small flank could be fun.
