Anyone pick this up? How is it? It looks cools but I'm thrown off with all this historical accuracy stuff he talks about, then I watch the player in the video somehow reload his garand after a few shots rather then firing all 8  Huh

Garands can be reloaded when ever you want, just most games don't allow it. First saw it in MoH, when they told you the gun jammed if you tried. I can't find info on this, only thing i can find was that the Manual of Arms told soldiers to fire all 8 then quickly reload.

Anyway, looks like a really good games, played the other BiA games (only demos though), amazing games, great control over your squads.

Can't wait to use a Mortar in an online FPS game. Raining down expolsives on an Human enemy and getting them ticked off at you will be fun! The only downside is that they will probably try to hunt you down with a vengance, but I guess you can always relocate...

I didn't really like the first BiA. The tactics are alright, but the realism isn't that great, and I hated the UI. I also remember the AI being really bad too, it didn't look much better in the video either when he was "sneaking" around the barbed fence and the german soldiers were right there in front of him and they didn't see him. The cone of fire is ridiciulous as well, not the tad bit realistic for a ww2 simulator.

Wolfenstien Enemy Territory had mortars and Battlefield Vietnam had mortars as well.

The thing is I need a "back-up" game to play because when the weather gets stormy the crummy DSL i'm on goes out pretty easy, and this looked like a decent game, looked better then MoH AB, it's been too long since I've had a good WWII FPS experiance.

For the garand thing, it is probably because they don't use a magazine it's a clip and if you don't fire all the rounds you would have to manually put in bullets into the clip. By firing off the clip you can quickly insert another clip and start shooting again, so it is faster to do it that way. This is just a guess on my behalf.

Game looks good, just have to figure out if I want the PC version or the PS3. I'll see if there are any bonuses, and see what system the game was made on. If it's a port I'd rather not get. I'll probably get it around christmas, looks good though, lost my COD3 game and I miss a WWII fps, guess Forgotten Hope II will have to make due.

Yes, I know that but they never really had much effect did they on thoses games did they? (God Forbid the Mortar being actually useful in a Battlefield game.)

Most likely in a Squad base combat like this game w/ no snipers to dominate the whole map, it will most likely very helpful in flushing out Infantry in cover.

Actually FH2 has mortars, so did FH1.

I played BiA Earned in Blood, it was ok....lacks in MP though. And the mortars in Wolfenstein are not something your going to be killing anyone with anymore seeing as the only way to kill with it is if their not moving, and that means only when their on their spawn, which will get you kicked. LoL. I should know, I've played the game for 5 years. And the only time its been used is in competition, the the perosn had to be really good with it.

Great Game, the arguement over the M1 Garand.
The M1 Garand was the first semiautomatic rifle adopted by a military, and was invented in Canada(that or it was by a Canadian) It took a clip that was locked in the gun until the the whole clip was fired. Once it was empty it automatic ejected the cartridge and made a loud "ping" noise. The clip couldn't be reloaded while a clip had ammo in it, even if one bullet was left. First I believe he may have had an M1 Carbine that the airbourne proffesionally used, and was an airbourne adopted rifle. The airbourne usually used the Thompson, M3 'Grease' Gun,BAR, M1 Carbine, & M1 Garands.

Looks like crysis.

Has physics like Crysis.

I'll buy it 'cause it's WW2 crysis.

Yes I know it is wikipedia, but it says what I had thought you could do, but the animation is clearly another clip being loaded with 2 bullets left in the chambered clip.

Well you see I own an M1 garand and the only way to load more bullets in without emptying the clip is to open the chamber and load them in like a bolt action, which they aren't doing in the game. They are loading in another enbloc clip without ejecting the first one.

Either way game still looks decent. Right now the only non-online FPS game I have is Rainbow 6 vegas, and i'm not very impressed with it.

Yeah I have RB6V (not 2) and even though my computer is kind of beastly, the game stutters and I just don't like it on the PC, the console version was smoother for me which is why unless the game is massively multiplayer I tend to go for the console versions.

The Brothers in Arms series were always were very good games, the aiming and squad tactics are a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to this one. There graphics are awesome.

I hope that there is also a multiplayer option without bots and players only, still featuring the tactics, but I doubt it. What I dont like as well is the behind the wall switch to 3rd person, I think it pulls you out of the fps action too much and you may lose overview. The stealth mode shown in the video reminded me of the scary movie killer hiding under the carpet and behind the curtain.

I played the first one but was very let down by the multi-player, the SP campaign was superb, just hope this next one actually succeeds in MP.

Will wait for reviews on this. Smiley
