actually asmith, you should always carry some belt as well (and possibly other armor) as there have been posts reporting experiments where 0.4 belt reduced torp damage by up to 60% when the bulge was depleted and 0 belt did not reduce it at all.

For that reason alone I usually carry 0.4 belt and 0.2 of everything else and 2 bulge.

After doing some research i found out that best German Low Level AA ship is lvl 30 AA gunners +    3.46"/78 SK C/31 L gun (AA gun. 0.8 reload time, req. lv 30) on Z1 DD ship. is that correct?

not really.  Most likely it's the Moltke with the 40s.

Also, you should have really high gunners.

everyone, DUMP THE RESTORERS. at high level, they will be 100% useless. your SD is capped at 900, and past lvl 80 or so, your crew is going to fill that without restorers. you are better off usig abou5 50% repairer and 50% engies, with the balance skewed toward engineer if you have an uneven number of slots.

Ucross, yeah, that's true, although the real number of belt is .2 inch. However, .2 deck does nothing, and 2 bulk is useless, unless you believe that they reduce crew deaths (but that's never been proven).

we got a newbie who doesnt play CoH In the clan, albitross. Be nice to him.

Also, I am accepting fleet donations.

I will pool these and not spend them. They will be distributed when clannies need a new ship, and hopefully when my radioman reaches lvl 50, it will finance the fleet.

OMG!

The Bogue is awesome. But I get owned by everything in the sky...

Restorers should not be dumped. You need them for CVs to reach 900 SD.

But CVs don't need 900 SD. If they are getting shot at, then they will die anyways. It's better to get those couple extra knots to be able not to get shot at.

CVs most definitely need SD. No one is perfect. No one will be able to defend against every DB/TB sneak-attack. 900 SD means you can take a couple alpha-strikes by DBs.

It also protects against the occasional BB salvo until you can get those DBs to hit. A sunk CV does no one any good.

sure, but those engies should keep you away from the slower BBs. as for DBs and TBs, your fighters should be able to take care of them.

Although it's not that bad for CVs, really. Restorers for BBs are crap, but for Cvs, they're not THAT bad. In general, though, people use engies.

No CV can outrun a T1-3 DB/TB. Or any of the DDs/CLs/CAs.

Personally, I prefer the Medic/Gunner approach over both SD and Engine. Having humped quite a few CVs as a DD/FF/CL, guns seem important. And vet loss is just ugh in CVs.

Okay, I've had a quick go and I am at a bit of a  loss.
WTF do I do from levels 1 through twelve.

I can do the training missions fine, I can then do the mission where there are 4 battleships from retirement who run out of ammo and I can pick off two then have to retreat.
Can't do the aa missions at all, historical ones are a no go and any pvp I do all seems to be war OP for anyone under.. like lvl 25-30.

Surely... there is a better (and something at least half fun than holding space) way to enjoy the game. Surely there is a bunch of missions I am missing, because a SINGLE viable mission seems pretty pathetic to me.

None of the guide sites offer any sort of help on what to do besides how to control a ship, aim and a lot.... like shitload of guides for crew building. Help please Grin

Well missions are only really there to start you off on the controls. You should jump into Blitz battles as soon as you figure them out.
You have to be ready to die a lot Smiley

The two main issues that I don't like about the game are:
1. There are only two main battle types (the rest or custom battles are rare) Blitz and Great Battles. That means that a FF or DD have to fight against CAs, and higher level CAs have to fight BBs. It makes it frustrating to be so useless in the scheme of the battle.
2. Without spending money on boosts and veterans, you will never be able to "own" a battle. Not everyone will get to feel the satisfaction of sinking almost half the enemy team. And no matter how much you level, there will always be a chance that some guy with a Boosted crew and a premium ship, will join the battle and totally own your pants off. It's frustrating.

Thanks for the quick reply, was just in a battle, got sunk, but I got my teeth stuck in and whet my appetite. Watched a guy with a ship (8000 hull) with some amazing AA going on. Also some of the huge ships just totally decimating eachother. Pretty fun, even though I died haha.

My OB is at lvl 6 now, wasted a lot of my points messing with crew members.

Make that eight. Got my first real ship also.... at last. progression is a lot faster thanks Phil.
