Basically, I was wondering why people make companies the way they do.

Mine was originally a Terror setup, seeing if German Steel was hot or not. But the actual company setup was inspired by historic orders of battle. Grenadier company supported by a STuG company. Since German doctrine called for rifles to support the machine guns thats how I built my platoons.

I start up my companies with a specific tactic for them in mind (I.E. Attrition, Skirmishing, etc.) Then, I let them organically grow until I've got the company I feel best suits what I was aiming for.

Mine is currently the way it is because Stugs are super cheap for what they can achieve and when they get heat rounds become ridiculous.

Also microing StuHs and Ostwinds and Motorbikes all at the same time and oblitirating ranger/RR spam is highly amusing to me.

I design mine if I'm attacking, defending, or playing in a larger game where I'll need to deal with infantry blobs.

My axis company is based around the abilities: scopes, for the father land and fatherland defense, so i try to use as many mobile infantry units as i can and with an officer backing them up it seems to work.

My company changes whether Im defending or attacking, shifting my AT and Support in the beginning depending on what I'm doing. The rest of it is pretty much general purpose AI, AT, support team+rifle squad.

I got the Flak 88 ability so all my units are Flaks in order to get the maximum effect of my doctrine.

my allied company is to build land forts and buy time or help the other side waste vet.

axis is to rush in with lighting war and spam the allies in the first 35-30 mins and try to win the game that way.

I always try to build around my doctrines choices.

Right now for my AB company I've got satchel charge units made just to drop in and take out repair bunkers or 88s. I put them in my support units. I've got my other AB are 2x RRs and a nade squad for special situations. And then I have a group of 3 nilla AB for harassment, other then that it's a lot of rifles, and some shermans. I just build my companies in a certain fashion that works for me, I know what comes in and what to expect. There isn't really any reason behind of it, I just think it works good, but I can never tell if it really does work that great or if I get out micro-ed or what. Like, is AmPm good because he takes real life set ups, or just he just have awesome micro lol.

It's really difficult for me to set up a company for certain tactics because things change so rapidly. And it's easy to get overwhelmed, so you don't know if those tactics work or not.

My available companies:
Allies:
*AB company going for raid assault
  Infantry going for tank reapers
Axis:
*Defensive going for rocket artillery
  Blitz going for lightning war
And an experimental Terror company going for subversion consisting of all volks and two King Tigers

I take real life setups because its easier to look at real life tactics and apply it.

Where do you find tactics or division set ups? I'd like to apply some real life tactics to my company to see how it works. Airborne in particular would be helpful (I should ask what you google when looking it up, because looking up "airborne tactics" it's too helpful =P )

they are extremly powerfull but the fact that they are suppressed by volks is stupid why would i waste 70mu on something that when a gun even points at them they are on their belt buckle.

9 m8's are fun to play with, nuff said.

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.

More changes to come.

I don't waste MU on anything. Ask everyone I use them against and they'll tell you have battle turning they can be; even though they get suppressed quickly, they recover from suppression faster than Riflemen, Rangers and Airborne. And I hardly get them suppressed by volks, as they are support infantry who come to the rescue!

Mh, i normally have a starting platoon with 25pop that has an all around effectiveness.

Than i have specialized 'fill up' call ins, composed of different units but smaller, in slight variation to each other for the specific situations. (like, infantry group with lmg gren, infantry group with hmg, infantry group in halftrack)

The 'why' is basically the "What works together" question i ask myself. Like why does the nebel come together with an hmg on the field: So it cant get swarmed by inf so easily. It works together, supporting each other. Same goes for a group of volks with mp40 and a mortar, same thing, but the more mobile variation for a different battlefield situation.

My companies end up looking pretty much the same no matter which doctrine, except for the doctrine specific units / more of the 'buffed' units through tier abilities if there are any.

Guess a company does in some fit the character of the user.
