Anyone can beat anyone, it just depends on how you balance your company, and I'm sure you know that.

And Paper doesn't defeat rock... Who exactly won the war?

While this type of X Counters Y is the case in some games, it just isn't in COH. Every doctrine can beat any other, it all depends on player experience & skill. Doctrine choice has very little to do with it.

Airborne will always lose to AI heavy infantry blobs.

But really, I finf this thread useless, and I can agree with Sach somehow.

Think about it.

Rangers beat Light Vehicle - Tank spam
Rangers beat HMG Spam
Howitzers beat Defenses/Blobs
Tank Reapers beats Tank Spam
Cheaper Infantry/Support Teams beat everything.

Infantry is the most powerful of all the doctrines because it has tools to counter everything.

Just two examples:

Airborne > Blitz (RR vs tiger)
Blitz > Airborne (MP44 Storm vs ABs)

Airborne > Def. (AB satchel vs 88, AB RR vs Stuka/Nebel)
Def. > Airborne (officer arty on airborne, supress AB after they used fire-up then stuka, etc)

This game has counters, hard counters, soft counters, but I am happy it does not have any answers that are 100% rock-paper-scissors Smiley. Some doctrine units have an advantage versus other doctrine units, but there are always multiple choices in those doctrines and multiple choices on how to cover the weaknesses of some of your units.

Its all about playing your strong points vrs someones weaknesses.


you could concievably build each doctrine in atleast 3-5 different ways and make completely different strong points which would counter someone elses weak points, and yet be countered in turn by someone elses.

there are no definites in EIR and thats why people KEEP playing it after 1000 games, because it is NEVER the exactly the same, there are always more options, more choices and more challanges.

I am stil torn between TR and stacked, if i go stacked i will have like 400-500 extra mun to spend if i to TR then my AI will suffer since i will have to spend Mun i don't have (aka sell AI upgrades) on more AT guns to make it worth it.

TR is only good if your teamate has capable AI, a TR company with airborne with heavy muni in RRs is a bad mix, while a TR with an armor and un-upgunned sherman spam would be nice  Wink
