THIS IS THERE HOME, not a school or a boot camp. they live there between deployments and missions. if you think nothing is Wrong With having to live in mold and shit then you need to rethink your moral standings. These are human beings not plastic solders who you put into the closet when your done with em. they need at least decant living conditions.
if this was a fire base or an occupied city i would be OK with it, but this is hear in America not some backwater town in the middle of the desert.
and if you say they need to be broken down, Well that's what boot camps for and basic training. NOT SHOR LEAVE.
most of these men and women have been out there for over a year and even i who oppose all aspect about the war think they at least need a decant place to live while they are resting.

I agree its terrible, but it is equally terrible that people across our country live in worse situations. Its just as bad that cozmo's school has bathrooms that don't work.
These arn't degrees of wrong, its all equally appalling.

luckily i can get home in five mins on my motorbike... dunno what i would do without it...
Basically if since money is an object, i know i would rather have that gunship above me, or the 105 behind me when i am facing the enemy, than have 5 star accommodation.
By the way, how wide spread is this, if it is just this one place, yea it is terrible, but it is not the end of the world, but if it was a lot more as well, then that is bordering on apocalypse.

The thing that is upsetting is where the fuck is the tax money going towards. This Iraq "war" has been going on for longer then the US involvement in WWII and I don't see the US leaving anytime soon (even though dipshit...I mean Bush has declared victory, and an end to major fighting like 4 years ago). I mean I've read other stories about horrible living conditions, injured soldiers not getting the help they need, and this one tops the cake for the omfg what is wrong with the fuckheads that run the military:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/28/soldier.electrocutions/index.html
And I just saw this on CNN:

injured men are not treated right, in both the US and UK military. I wish the UK would stop being Bush's fuck monkeys and pull out of a war we have no interest in fighting.

I agree the video does make it sound worse than it is, but I mean at least a proper sewer system; and atleast a semiclean building, it does remind me of public schools which also need this. Btw this was on the news, and the Army claimed they new nothing about it, yet they have several barracks checks yatayata. These Barracks have been around since World War Two maybe a little before that. And these barracks haven't had a decent remodeling since then(cleaning, piping, etc.) Yet the big army officers get really nice barracks compared to the shitlot. All they wanted was a decent cleaning, and a new sewage system(several barracks in fort bradd have the same prob) they denied the Requests until this hit the news, its amazing how the News likes to downgrade the army everytime. I hate bias Newstations too many of them(Demos) always blaming Bush for these problems. Congress makes all the Decisions,(most)

Well I will say Bush is the reason I get made fun of all the time at my Middle School just because My last name is Bush to, so I changed it to Busch so people won't bother me,but back to subject.
I don't really understand why people hate Bush I'm only thirteen and rarely hear anything about political actions or Military actions. Could someone give me specific reasons why? If its 9/11 "Inside Job" theory I'll go with that as a reason, but I won't decide on that.

Look, i am in the army, i served in iraq. What these soldiers are living in and how they are living is appalling, to even army standards. As of probably about 20 years ago, congress passed this brilliant bill that said the military needs to start using private contractors to build and upgrade and maintain buildings and equipment that it uses. If this had never happend, the army would be paying its soldiers a little extra to remodel, paint and do whatever maintinance is needed on building. The army must go back to be self sustainable, not relying on lazy contractors who are paid by the hour to do work. they always work slow and know that they get paid either way, because the gov't always goes with the lowest bidder. I have seen this myself, a job that should take only 2 months to complete, takes over a year. Come on, what kind of Shit is that? Sometimes i wonder about this country, sometimes i wonder if we even learned from the Romans on what NOT to do and prevent the downfall of this nation. But then again, we did elect bush........

ya we are all idiots for even thinking bush could handle running our nation when he cant even give a speech. before bush we had a booming economy and now after 8 years under him we have a declining economy with gas prices that climb each day. its $4.90 a gallon now! before bush it was $1.20. and he and his cabinet came up with lies to trap America in this war, when all we are truly doing is dying, and for what! revenge for 9/1, oil, a chance to show Americas military strength?
back on subject. they at least need a healthy environment. its sad when we spend all this money on wepions but we cant have a decant place for our troops to live.

lmao you guys are truly pathetic. For one its not lead paint, and the pipes are cast iron, nothing wrong with that its still used in plumbing today. Sewer gases aren't harmful unless in huge doses, is just smells...but it usually only smells if the system is on a septic tank, which I highly doubt because the barracks in right in a town. Its not like shit sits in these pipes 24/7....retards. Also even a hotel can have a sewer backup...what else is new. To redo the plumbing in a commertial residential unit...such as the barracks, would be over 250,000...i know because I am a plumber. And a broken toilet seat...OMFG OH NOES THATS HORRIBLE! I mean come on...they chose to join the military...if they wanted the good life then don't join the military retards...wow I don't even know why we have to even talk about this...people have too much time on their hands...

I think people like you are over reacting. Most of us just agree that they could use some decent remodeling. 250,000 dollars is a small price to pay compared to the remodeling efforts currently being put into the barracks. I mean, come on. A flat screen TV for 2 men? That's money wasting. Fixing a sewage system for the whole barrack for only 250,000 dollars would be money spent appropriately. The Army just isn't giving the appropriate response. They're spending enormous amounts of money on luxury items that could otherwise be spent for renovating more barracks at a time.
The soldiers aren't complaining, but I bet they just want normal and decent living conditions. The Army is giving them excess stuff that isn't needed. A fixed sewage system, a few toilet lids, and a fresh coat of paint won't cost billions. Instead, they want to build entire new barracks with new furniture and everything? The buildings look structurally intact so there's no point in building new edifices.

It's not like they deserve all of this, but they shouldn't expect anything good out of the army. Hell, when's the last time the government ever looked out for you?

Iraq has nothing to do with fighting Terrorism. It has nothing to do with Bin Laden, if we were upset about him we would have gone after Saudi Arabia instead.

Osama was either dead years ago, or was never really a threat.
anyway the British army boast about having every trained profession in its ranks save hair dressers, why can't the US army do that too, things would be done so much quicker if the men renovating the place had to live there.
