Figured I'd start a thread dedicated to this awesome Civ4 mod.  I played for a few hours last night with Salan and Zinser while they got acclimated to it.

Fall from Heaven 2 is a dark fantasy total conversion for the Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword Expansion.  It has 12 very distinct races with a complex magic systems, powerful religions, and all sorts of exciting new game mechanics.  FfH2 is definitely one of the premier Civ4 mods and displays more polish and content than a lot of full games.

The official forums are located here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=190

And you can grab the download of the latest version (0.32) here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1
Patch "E": http://kael.civfanatics.net/files/FfH2032e.exe

Once you install the main mod download, be sure to install the "E" patch.

The latest version information and changelogs are always located in the "FhF2 0.XX Bug Thread" sticky on the forums.

Hehehe, yeah its really good.  I'd be down for starting a new game sometime this afternoon.  Send me a PM when you and Zinser are around.

For purposes of a quick, fun MP game, I recommend doing a small map, maybe 6 or 8 races, quick game speed

I think it depends on the map size.  Last I recall it was 3 megacities for small/standard, 4 for large/huge.  And unlimited settlements.  But I could be wrong since I last played in depth about a year ago.

Looks good, I've been pretty bored of vanila Civ4 so this should be a nice twist on things. Anyone want to organize a game?

I have both Warlords and Beyond the Sword. Haven't played in a while, but I still know the basics.

There is also the manual: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=257728

I did some searches on the forum and apparently the old wiki (the one that looked like wikipedia and was way better) was lost in a server crash back in December.

I am curious how the FfH2 team has kept up the momentum for over 3 years of development.  The experience with this mod demonstrates that it is no easy task to keep up enthusiasm for a free mod made in one's free time.

I wonder what their secret is?

Mod has become slightly bullshit imo.

When a power2 unit that is dug in with 25% bounus and vet. 1 20% more power loses against a normal goblin with 2 power there is something wrong.

If the same thing happens 3 times and a babaric hero spawns next to my city and kills it and a bear spawns on my settler to kill it AND my world spell did not stop it, there is no Point to let the AI continue its tourmenat against me. Once the mod fixes those cheating ais i gladly play again.

In retroperspectiv i just failed hard since i didnt have 5 units in each city and goblin-units dont have the best def. modifers.  However i am still sure that the clan of ember gets a higher priority to be attacked by babarians once they chease there treaty with me.

Last game was good, dunno how much longer the others played while i was going to sleep.

Basicly we have 2 big landmasses, with Klolath, Crono and a load of AI´s on the right one and me and the rest on the left one.
There are 2 ilands that are not connected to those landmasses, but they are both basicly worthless if your not looking for 3 bebers and nothing else to live from.

My race is struggling (still) with the babarians and i am just spamming ogres now. The south the only territory that is untaken on our country is tundra, frozen and filled with more babarians while in the front i got 4 cultures, 2 human 2 ai and the humans are eating up the AI.

I think you would have been much better off if you hadn't ninja'd settler difficulty.  If you were playing at noble difficulty like the rest of us, you wouldn't have had a skyrocketing score and so the Barbarians wouldn't have declared war on you.

As for the combat odds, it really is just chance.  If you have anything less than a 100% of victory there is always a chance that you will lose.  Generally, you always win on 80+%, but that you can have streaks of bad luck.

The main thing is you need to have at least 3 warriors on hand per city in the early game.  And putting down roads allows you to reshuffle units to meet the threats.  Also, I recommend putting warriors on defensive tiles (pref hill forests) 3-4 tiles from your cities.  This outer line of defense pushes back the fog of war, which prevents the barbs from spawning right next to your borders (barbs only spawn in fog of war) and it gives you time to react if the picket line dies.

Its just luck.
