Eve Online

Hey who here plays this MMORPG?
I am in a Corp (Guild) that AmPm was in a while back, he got me in it, and last night i did some ratting in 0 sec space. It was awesome, made quite a few bucks, like 9 mil i think, and it was myself and 2 other guys. Was a lot of fun, we even got wtfpwned, but didnt die. After some negotiation we were allowed back in there space and had some fun being protected and getting some npc kills.
this game is amazing, much more in depth than i had previous experience with. player ran economy, free open pvp, and if your not smart could lose everything you have worked for in game in one glorious explosion.
I recommend ppl check this out. There is of course, like with all of these kind of games, a 14 day free trial. If you get in, look me up in game or find me on vent, i help you out with the start of the game. my name in game is Cronos Solo

The skill system is deep and fulfilling. everything else though I dont really like. There is never too much social interaction, from my experience. The only way to earn a good chunk of money is by harvesting, and combat is....lacking. You press "orbit at # Meters", and click buttons to fire your weapons. Dont get me wrong, its fun, and I might get the free trial again, but I just dont really seem like I will subscribe anytime soon.

Mason, if you try to PvP like that, you will die in seconds =)
As for making money, there are 2 schools of thought, the first is do the work get the reward, the second is find the guy who did the work, kill him and take whats his. I usually go with the second option.

i did the 14 day thing that sucked
get a mission in the space port. by time i fly out of the port (took me about 5 minutes) it tells me that i failed the mission what a load of ________.it said i hard over 15 hours to do the mission and fly to another point in space to kill someone. and i could get another mission to do since that person hated me or something. so for a few days i was just flying around what a lame game.
homeworld was better

Missions are fail, too many people try to get into the game, and go along doing the solo content shit. What they don't realize is that its a sandbox game, and you get exactly what you deserve out of it. Money and skills are easier than ever to get, but the fun part of the game is doing something exciting that involves other people, like any other MMO.
14 Day trial, start out with a character thats good at frigate combat, train to use an afterburner, armor plates, and propulsion jamming (takes about 2 days) then go pirating in low sec.
Eventually you leave Empire space behind (the NPC controlled noob area) and head for nullsec space where anyone and everyone can kill or be killed with no penalty from an artificial game system. This is where fortunes are made or lost, empires are built or crumble, and some of us hide in the cracks avoiding the big fleets and pop out to kill some juicy hauls and take the loot.

the basics? Activate guns, activate other modules, stay at a good range. The complexities come in when trying to balance your ship setup, how much capacitor you have vs how much you need, the recharge rates of your cap and shields, how much damage your tank can mitigate vs incoming, how fast you are going in relation to your target, how high or low you can keep your radial velocity (for gun tracking) and more and more....the combat is very complex.
Vs NPCs like in any game its predictable and boring, vs players its your skill and your knowledge of your ship and their ship vs their knowledge and skill.
Your skill as a player is vastly more important than your characters skills, once you have the basics to fit your ship out that is.

I just don't like having to pay, I'm not cheap but I always have that feeling like I'll get bored with it and not get the full value of my subscription.

I didn't know that was the "rate", I guess I'm speaking on a broder scale with other games.

For 50 cents a day, you could help feed an adorable third world child.

When you get to the higher levels of upgrading, it literally takes days. I could deal with that, but... the game never really caught on with me. Maybe it's only because I ended up playing with Marine's corp, and he kept being an asshole.
