Later M4 and M4A3 were factory-produced with a 105 mm howitzer and a new distinctive mantlet in the original turret. The first standard-production 76 mm-gun Sherman was an M4A1 accepted in January 1944 and the first standard-production 105 mm-howitzer Sherman was an M4 accepted in February 1944.

Hehe...i'd totally pwn if inf div had one of these. screw my howitzer.

That would be pretty epic, but who is around to skin it, add damage tables and vet, and then put it into EiR?

Have it, played it loved it.

Exactly. Axis have mobile artillery and allies don't Sad.

At the same time, it probably would go to armor division rather than infantry division since it's a tank and it doesn't fit inf div philosophy, plus, i'd probably never field a regular sherman again.

I can model and texture, I've never done it for CoH and I am not familiar with the workflow for it, but I can research with no problems. I am working on another project atm, so if the community really wanted this kind of thing, then I'd be willing to put the time and effort so long as they can guarantee the model will be considered in the game content.

X hours later...

"Nice model/skin but, we aren't releasing any further changes to the mod, but thanks anyway" Sad

Just to say this Sherman probably was only Infantry Support and only fired 105mm HE rounds and 75mm AP rounds. Just to say it wouldn't do any better vs tanks.

And PS you don't have skin it. You just have to go in and change its projectile into the same shell a 105 shoots, or what the Stuh shoots.

Well it depends on if it's AP or HE. Just because it was 105mm doesn't mean that it was automatically an HE round but I guess since they called it a howitzer sherman...

it's too bad they aren't doing, well, anything. It'd be nice to add new stuff to EiR just to make the divisions more balanced, especially airborne, yeah it's the n00b company but at the same time it's so limited so it's tough to play...it's the perfect blob company lol

Airborne should get AB Jeeps and changed doctrines to allow for more versaitility.
Actually, the howiesherman could work with armor just aswell, but in differen situations.
Like Infantry get it as a doctrine ability, maybe together with the howie or such, and Armor get an upgrade from sherman to howiesherman on vet1/2 .

AB should get air-dropped greyhounds. =P

I like your idea unlimited, but maybe for balance's sake, it would be a normal sherman, with a "fire 105mm barrage" with a recharge of about the howie.

Yeah, except it would have crush on anything it hit and would stun enemies around it from the impact. it would also be able to fire a small MG from the bottom which insta-suppresses any units underneath it and buttons tanks. Then I think Ab would be win. Cheesy

Yea, its a 105mm Howitzer in the turret, meaning HE and smoke rounds. So about as effective in EiR as a STuH42 vs Tanks.

I want to see the Axis get the Hornisse.

It has a turret.
That will surely bolster it's capabilities vs. infantry.
And I want a Jagttiger!   21PoP ftw!

You don't want the jagdtiger, you want a gargantuan 30 popcap monster. Case in point, the Ferdidnand/Elefant <<<<< This thing's box holding the gun, was almost the size of a tiger.
But, the Elefant didn't have a hull machine gun, so you'd need to always support it. That, or make it fire uber-long range. Just needing LoS, like the 88.

The elephant was a tiger chassis, I believe.
And yes, I want a Jagttiger!
It would be extremely tactical to have a unit even stronger (more damage, range, front armor) than the KT, but as immobile and without a turret.
easy prey for a single m10, and hard to support because of the popcap.
