NM, Akra edited his post......

Something is better then nothing. And to be honest who is there that worked on the mod to give stuff to? FL and Ucross were the only real devs afaik. Sure there's phil but he doesn't even play COH to my knowledge. Roflmao may have been a name I remeber doing coding. You were a forum mod, Kolath/Unknown were the map guys.

You don't have to have been a dev to have contributed to the workings. Unknown and APEX can attest to the work a few people put into the mod that didn't see anything come out of it.

Since I'm unaware of this, I would like to ask what did they put into the mod?

I would say at least 10 months of their free time, countless hours coming up with new things for you to do in EiR. HEAPS AND HEAPS of concept work that you'll never see.

Very true.  Also, since we are now opening EiR dev back up to some degree.  Can I please be the first to vote for inclusion of Akranadas' awesome menu backgrounds from the screenshot contest last year?  That should have been in ages ago but better late than never.

Akra, can you link the thread with the pics because they rocked?

There were alot of people that did things behind the scenes as Akra said, some of it never got put in to the mod itself.

I would love to help with EiR, it is ultimately FLs decision as to who gets the access and to what extent he will allow them to go with changes and/or decisions for the future of EiR.

Basically i think the senior players should get the rights to do stuff. I'd rather have 10 people then 3. With an alpha-male, the alpha-males bitch and then the doggies. Everyone gives their say, everyone debates, and then the final decision is made by the alpha-male.

I want to do newer ones though.

If I can figure it out, I'd want them to look more like this

PLAYERS don't know anything when it comes to work, you think that just because say, someone plays 30 hours of EiR a week should be a developer, because obviously there experienced to you? Fuck that, they'll most likely want to play instead of actually working, it's one of those reasons I stopped playing EiR, because I was putting in a lot of work on the design side of it, and I didn't want to play it because I was working on it.

Players don't make good developers, you need people who actually know how to develop things and put in work to run your mod, not some guy who has a 9000+ experienced company.

Ok players wasn't the correct word choice. But I mean the Senior members of the community that know how the mod works. Not the newer or middle members.

But the big point is that I think the bigger this new team the better, because more ideas can be voiced. This is referring to the pricing aspect, my thoughts may change concerning other aspects of the mod.

I would think the two guys WHO WERE PART OF THE ORIGINAL DEV TEAM would be better than some player who just plays the game. Senior Members don't know how the mod actually works, I doubt they even know how to modify LUA values

Well since there seems to be no inspiration for the original head haunchos to come back then I don't see that happening. And you're just assuming that no one else knows how to modify LUA values. But you don't know that, you're just making an assumption. I'm not saying "GIVE THIS SHIT TO ANYONE FUCK IT GIVE IT TO WHOEVER HAS THE MOST POSTS!!!!!11111". Qualified people do come first, but if it is a choice between a newer person with the ability to do the work and an older person with the same ability the older person who has been with the mod should get it. That is the point that I'm trying to say here. Knowledge>Seniority>Newer members>newbie. I'm glad that FL is doing this, this is very nice to see, and I hope that this can cause some more growth.

you guys are completely losing sight of fldash's post. He said he is looking for 2 - 3 people to do balance price changes.  THAT IS IT for now.

Mysql is not a hard thing to learn, hell i even know a bit about it... RGD is not that difficult either with corsix's tools and you just need to keep searching it to understand it logically.

but you are all looking well beyond what he stated was his goal, take a breather for a second and look at what was actually stated and accept the limited degree with which it will be instigated at first....

Salan, this is nothing more than a popularity contest. We all know your going to end up being one of those those 2-3 guys anyway.

If its just a popularity contest, why are you posting?   Seems like you've really gone out of your way to alienate yourself from the community over the last few months....

I'm posting because I feel that people who put in a lot more work into this mod are going to be short changed in favour of people who simply play more.

I'm not going out of my way to alienate myself from this community. I was contemplating coming back eventually.

Ak has some valid points, however, I would rather have someone that plays, and will not change things to favor their play styles.

Ampm, I'd rather have a team of guys who know how the game works, seen it go through a few stages and don't support the use of gimmics. Playing the game is fine, but you can't expect everyone to play like they did 6 months ago, as the game is EXACTLY the same as it was back then.
