...Tyranid faction is a force to be reckoned with. They specialize in swarming their adversaries and can quickly spread across the battlefield if unchecked. Not only do they excel at impaling foes with giant claws and talons, but their heroes offer interesting talents. One of them has a licking ability and can shoot its tongue across a map, snatch an enemy hero, and pull him back and into a swarm of waiting alien warriors.

Sounds surprisingly......unoriginal.

If relic had any innovative talent, it appears to me that the extent of it was rather limited.

FIVE maps? What the fuck. Honestly man, EiR players produced more quality maps in the course of a year than THQ is going to put in for an entire fucking release? Max 6 players, same stupid assed base building capture-the-random-points and of course, VPs renamed to something else.

Plus, heroes! YAAAAAAAAAYYY, because I want my WH40k looking like fucking WC3. But wait! They have persistent upgrades that impact.........*gasp*.....their appearance!  Thats SOOO cool.

"The upgrades are purely cosmetic so as not to disrupt the game's balance, but it's pretty awesome to roll through the battlefield with gold-plated armor with spikes. You'll easily be able to see more-skilled enemies simply by looking at them."
Oh boy, that guy has gold plated armor, he's fucking 1337.
What's up with the tongue licking shit? I can't wait to have my force commander sucked into a giant tyranid swarm because the other guy's hero has a gay ability which he will most certainly grief with.

"which seems sure to appeal to anyone who has ever dreamed of casting magic spells and ordering an orbital satellite strike in the same game. "
But not to people who want to play a balanced and immersive game that doesn't suck a huge dong.

"The influence of Relic's other hit real-time strategy game, Company of Heroes, can be seen immediately when you start playing Dawn of War II."   What a surprise, given that the influence of Relic's OTHER OTHER RTS, Dawn of War, was incredibly obvious when playing their other RTS, CoH.

"no modding is currently planned for Dawn of War II"
What a surprise. Our game sucks a huge dick, but we won't let you modify it at all to make it suck less.

Uh no. I already took one big dick in the arse when I bought COH expecting something original from what I thought was a great company. Piss off relic, no more money for you, you grubbing sons of bitches. Make a game worth buying next time.

Okay, having sufficiently taken out my rage over CoH and demolishing DoW:II, imma get off my soapbox.

I know, I said "OOH Empire." And got distracted.  I came back and was like "wow fuck THQ and relic."

Super secret Homeworld project that is sapping all of their resources.

But in all seriousness, I have a feeling that THQ/Relic is low on money, I don't have anything to support that, but perhaps the economic times is fucking them up a bit.

IIRC THQ has had to lay off many employees.

I believe it's been confirmed elsewhere that it's not going to be 5 maps.  Don't believe everything that you read.

IIRC, they had 5 maps at the demo event.

This preview is actually pretty terrible.

Thing says it's going to ship with five maps, now I know gamespot isn't always the best source of info, but I believe it.

Things that made Kolath very sad:

1. No modding  Cry Cry (WH40K is just asking for the EiR treatment)
2. Emphasis on heroes
3. Still has base-building
4. "Persistancy" has no gameplay effect

How the fuck would they even think about releasing with only 2v2 and 3v3 maps?  That makes absolutely no sense.  And on top of that, only having five?!  Christ, unless they're all great, I'm passing.  Which is too damned bad, because I had hoped Relic was getting their shit back together.
