Brits in EIR:R...

For those who've played...
Are the Brits still slow in neutral/enemy territory?
- If yes, are the Lt.s/recon upgrades cheap enough?
If not what are the officers getting used for?
- Heroic characters?
- Special skills? (similar to axis arty on officer?)

Brits move at full speed.
Officers are used for their buffs (Defensive for Captian, Offensive for LT) just like in vCoH. Captains are able to purchase/use Victor Target in the Royal Artillery, LT's are able to purchase/use FOO in all trees.

Sounds good, maybe I can find out if anyone ever gets back to me on my EIR:R launcher problem.

Get the 25 pounder unlock. I know for sure it contains Creeping Barrage...and it probably contains Victor Target as well. Sorry about that one not being clear.

Give me 5 pp's and i will
I dont see me ever using creeping barrage, takes too long and you just walk away but it does show as available to the priest.
Have tommies been nerfed? They seem incredibly weak.

You know our rule on changing base statistics.
The only thing that has been changed for them is their movespeed.

Use lieutenants. World of difference.
Also, Tommies don't cost 450 MB in vCOH solely because of their 'strength'.
They're still a base infantry unit, so people may be expecting a tad too much from them without lieutenants, based on their vCOH price.

This isn't really the place for this, but I take issue to that policy.
For one, VCoH units are balanced for VCoH gameplay, and EIR is not VCoH gameplay. The mere fact that units are limited by availability, and there are no hard "phases" of a game in EiR, as well as the victory conditions, make Relic's notion of balance inconsistent with our own, albeit related.
Secondly, you are *able* to change unit stats, denying yourselves that option is somewhat narrow-minded and traditionalist, in terms of removing a tool from the balance toolbox.
Their stats are certainly a good starting point, and certainly its where we should be at right now, but I think its an unnecessary handicap to place upon yourselves.

I would love to be able to use a lt but a firefly seems mandatory in your first call in along with 2 tommies, and that leaves 1 pop at the start, then i have to wait a few mins to call him in and he's pretty meh at that point

A firefly is only mandatory if you persist to the idea that PIATs are absolutely useless and 17 pounder emplacements are not worth the hassle.

Piats are useless, and 17 pdrs aren't worth it either, they die far too easily. Also, I'd love to know your reasoning for why tommies do cost 450 MP in vcoh if not for their strength...

So you'd use piats in your core call in? What happens when a tank charges and rapes them. And 17 pounder is ok if you can get it in a good spot, but thats near impossible.

In combination with button they suffice in holding off the 'average' amount of armoured units fielded by a single player at the start of a game.

Only a moron gets buttoned close enough to not get back out before the PIATs get close enough to reliably hit. Charging into a bren squad is dumber than charging a rifle squad with stickies...

Well, I just always charge straight in.
With 4 light vehicles at start, including a good amount of supression and AI killing power, the enemy can hardly button everything and still have AT left.
In fact, it's quite impossible.

Maybe unknown, but you can't rely on that when claiming PIATS are useful.
On another note, are there any plans to add mines to the demo sappers like they have in VCOH? Seems kind of useless without them...one demo charge as opposed to OR or PIATs just doesn't compare in usefulness IMO.

The reason why tommies cost 450 in vCoH is because they're equal to grens when supported by a lieutenant. They're not much stronger than volksgrenadiers when without a lieut, actually, and at close range one volks rapes one tommy squad(no upgrades on either).

First, I'd like to say PIATs are not useless. If you'd like me to prove it, by all means, charge my sappers. I'd be HAPPY to enlighten you.
They're not a shreck, stop trying to use them like that. It's a different flavor of AT, you don't use an IST like a P4, do you? They're an ambush weapon, much like a PAK, and while they're shorter range, they have other advantages, instead. Penetration power on a PIAT is intense, and shouldn't be discounted. You just need to be careful.
My only gripe is...where are my mines?
