You don't know what total war is? Its a turn based strategy with real time battles. You build your armies on the campaign map, move them around capture territory etc.
(and there's no base building in the actual battles)

The campaign element is RTT style, but the battles are RTS style. I would say a better comparison would actually be Rise of Nations(without basebuilding) and Rome: Total War. You develop your armies in the RTT part and have battles set up and diplomacy done in the campaign map. 18th century RTS Naval and land battles d00d.

I had this thing against RTS-type games for a LONG, LONG time unless it was Panzer Generals. COH bought by back to them really...

The one thing that irritates me about Steam is when it randomly "pauses" my downloads by doing that "Download Starting" nonsense. I started the demo, got it to about ~20% and went to class. Come back and it stopped at 58% or so with that bug. It's bad enough that my bandwidth is capped at 80 kb/s...

No worries, I think it was slow for everyone since so many people were trying to get the demo. It's worth the wait though, crazy fun.

Just played the demo... Wish the demo was multiplayer... hate single player games...

Total War games are one of the few games I prefer playing single player. The big campaign mode in combination with the RTS battles is fantastic.
However, they're patching in a 1v1 multiplayer grand campaign a little bit after the game comes out *swoons* finally.
