So you want a puma that starts with 150 hp and pay 100munitions to double it?

Because I certainly don't.

M8 is pointless atm, if you want to kill infantry, quad does a far better job as it can kite shreks and suppress, M8 can't.   I wouldn't put the M8 up against tanks either, so whats the point?   The quad even kills PE halftracks better than the m8.

Munitions is too precious atm to waste on something thats mediocre at everything the same the M8 is.  Hell, a regular halftrack can kill un-garrisoned infantry just as well as the M8, and it barely cost anything.

M8s don't need a price drop. The problem with them is probably pop cap, because ultimately they are designed to be a support unit for blocking retreating tanks for mad shermanrape, or light infantry pushes.

Also, the M8 is not roughly comparable to a Stuart, it's much better. An m8 takes roughly 20 shrek shots to kill on average compared to something like 5 or 6 for a Stuart. As any ladder PE player can tell you the fucking M8 is fucking impossible to hit with handheld AT while moving, and that is it's greatest value over comparable units.

3 shrek shots is MORE than enough to kill a stuart, actually.

Even then, you wont need 20 'tries' to kill an m8.

You do. It might actually be 40 for a skirted one. I can't remember exactly, but it was all posted on the gamereplays forums. These numbers are for Wehr shreks, it's even more with PE shreks as I recall.

Basically the M8 can't be killed at range by Shreks as long as it moves. That's why Kampfgruppe Kompany is never a viable counter to fast M8 unless you can get two squads before he gets the M8 and you do a German Driveby in IHTs (gl getting fuel and munis for that with riflecapping speed).

no it is true...i don't know how many "shoots" it took exactly but a well microed M8 takes ages to be killed by schrecks

most people are not good microing a m8..that means keep it at max range and everytime a schreck dude is ready to fire... move it...

I love m8's and I once kept one alive for half a game, with reparing of course. Just harassing.

one tactic i see none of is Quad + M8. This rocks! Get a quad, use it to hit the infantry and while it's wearing away the health and then suppressing, the m8 comes in and hits it with its 37mm cannon and .50 cal, which then kills it even faster and even suppressing even faster cuz of the . 50 cal. I used to use this combo a lot.

but like manfred said, m8 needs a reduce in pop i think. Also maybe put the mp to 280 instead of 310, which i think is just ridiculous, it's on par with a tank. I think a stug costs about the same and i think the majoirty of people would rather have a stug than an m8.

StuH - 380 MP, 160 F, 8 pop
StuG - 300 MP, 165 F, 8 pop

M8 - 310 MP, 50 F, 8 pop
Quad .50 - 350 MP, 120 Mun, 30 F, 5 pop

Puma - 300 MP, 50 F, 8 pop
Flammenwerfer - 240 MP, 65 Mun, 55 F, 5 pop

I'd rather spend my 300 150 and 50 on upgunned puma than a skirted .50 cal m8. (I know upgun is 85)

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

the 20 shots bit is an exaggeration at best.  under ideal circumstances for the greyhound a shrek will hit 20% of the time, not counting scatter-hits.   A wehr shrek takes 2 shots to kill a basic greyhound, and 3 to kill a skirted greyhound. A PE shrek takes 2 shots to kill a basic, and 4 shots to kill a skirted.

So if tank busters are running around in the open they might have trouble against a skirted greyhound.

purely IMO, but you should stick those TBs in an IHT regardless. Wink

Of course this all depends on excellent micro on behalf of the american player, and ignores other aspects like AT halftracks, PaKs, stormtroopers, Marders, teller mines, etc.

Note that similar calculations show the Sherman as taking 14 panzershrek shots to kill on average... and personally I've lost track of the number of shermans i've had crippled by long range shrek alpha strikes. Wink

The problem with handheld AT tests is that there is no real way to qualify the scatter angle and the "real" hit % chance. Since any handheld AT weapon can hit with a technical "miss" that hits the tank hitbox, it is impossible to test for real accuracy values (so far) without using an in-game unit vs. unit simulator.
