I've tried to use this ability. I click on an infantry squad within the AoE circle that pops up, the Churchill increases acceleration to flank speed, moves near the squad, and......no suppression.

Anyone else managed to get tank shock to work? Do you need to be like right next to the squad before activating the ability to make it work?

It suppresses infantry in vCoH.

Though if it can SUPPRESS tanks, however that would work, that'd be crazy awesome :p

Activate it on an Infantry unit; it should suppress the target. The way it works is it targets the squad you're clicking on, and makes them recieve way more suppression. So any units you have nearby the Churchill will also help it suppress the target. This is contrary to the flawed system in vOF, where you target the Squad and they enter the state of suppression, but forcing them into suppression state also works on retreating troops, something we did not want in EiR:R so we introduced the balance change from the current Beta.

How much does the new tank shock reduce the suppression by? Can a normal rifle squad cause suppression? Because if you're going to need a HMG or automatic weapons to cause suppression it makes it very hard to pull the tank shock suppression off. You might as well pull the 60 munitions off tank shock and place it into those automatic weapons in the first place.

I believe that the churchill's own weapons are supposed to be enough to cause the suppression

The Churchill's own weapons will be enough to cause suppression, however the caveat is that the only suppressing weapon the Churchill has is the co-ax/hull machine guns.  It requires your Churchill to fire for usually the entire charge-up to the infantry squad to suppress with those guns.

Then we don't need a jeep to block a tank when we can do it with infantry? That'd be cool xD

So, the tank shock doesn't work in EiRR like it works in VCoH? I mean a blob comes and hit on tank shock and let the tank drive through the blob and kill 1/2 of them by crushing? If lucky it kills everyone

This is a popular misconception, turning off human crush will not enable infantry to block tanks, just like light vehicles can't crush infantry but also don't get blocked by them.

Turning off infantry crush would slow down tanks a lot. Instead of soaring down a road your tanks would hit a dead stop if a single rifle gets in its way. Very bad idea.

Mortars do engine damage a lot, he could have done it that way, but given the context, he probably used the crew to block the puma.

Sooooo back to the original topic. Has *ANYONE* gotten tank shock to work at ALL? Because the change to tank shock to prevent retreat-griefing is at the moment making it not work for me, making it a waste of 60 munitions.

As far as I know the change to Tank Shock is the same as the vCoH beta.

Quote
- Removed a set suppression modifier that was applying to retreating squads on Churchill Tank Shock.
- Churchills will face their targets to perform their Tank Shock ability and get increased weapon suppression to compensate for removed set suppression action.
- British Churchill tank shock has an additional area modifier that applies a received suppression modifier to nearby enemy infantry.

Basically, the Churchill alone MIGHT be able to cause suppression, but it's unlikely.  To give an idea of what it does, the area of increased suppression is a radius of 15 (pretty large) and increases all received suppression by a factor of 10.  Like Tym said, bring along a Bren and you're fine.
