So I broke down and bought ToV, my birthday is coming up, so I figured why not? And I'm actually having quite a bit of fun with it. I def understand why'd you want to wait for the price to go down before buying it, but it's pretty cool. my main reason for picking up ToV would be this, if you are in need of some CoH/EiRR action, but don't want to play the crappy 1v1 and 2v2, pick up ToV, because there is enough new content, whether or not you find it gimmicky, but there should be enough content to keep you entertained til EIRR is fixed. At least I hope. The new game modes/campaigns are really neat.

Panzerkrieg mode is really fun. You take control of a tank and capture points, it's really really fun. It's great taking control of a single unit and putting all your effort into the micro. My only problem is you can't talk to your teammates as you pick which tank you use in the beginning, so you have to ask them before readying up. If you get on vent with someone and play this you will be at a huge advantage.

Stonewall, I haven't played it yet, though I'm about to give it a try, but as said before it's pretty much what destination reigstag is, I'll update this after playing a game.

Assault, you take control of a single hero unit and fight into the enemies territory. This is cool, but I see it getting old real fast. Units like the recon unit are useless, you might as well have everyone go heavy weapons. It's trying to be warcraft 3, but it's just a bit too shallow. Another weird thing is they make it seem like they were going to put multiple styles of each class, but once you click on them you will find there is only one of each.

Campaign, the Tiger ace campaign was shorter then I thought it would be, but it was pretty fun. Though it seems like the vehicle AI is retarded now, and direct targeting or whatever is pretty clumsy, but I'm sure with practice it's really useful, it's good to test it out a bit there before you play panzerkrieg and try it there.

Panzerkreig would be so much better if there was some advantage to things like rear armor hits.  Still, it is pretty fun.  Assault is decent (if you play try to get people to agree not to use the HWGuy, he's just stupidly overpowered).  Stonewall is...meh.  It's okay I suppose.

yeah that assault one is weird, there is no reason to ever not use the HWguy, except sometimes i use the jeep towards the end.

I took the HW guy as wehr, after having been utterly destroyed by them on the ami side.
I instantly realised why everyoen goes HW.
My killstreaks were as follows - 1x40, 2x30, 3x20,?x10. Ended with 171 kills, 7 deaths, going purely HWG, while other people tried changing their classes up, and the closest competitor was 81-8. I also got the most bunker kills.... sigh. LMG is way OP.

As allies, only one to live up to the LMG is the officer, and maybe assault airborne at the very end to get right past their HMGs to finish off the base...
Otherwise, you need to have really retarded axis players for allies to win.

Panzerkrieg is gravely OP for the axis as well - you need to have retards on the axis team, and a ventrilo using team on the allies, for the axis to lose. I mean, hotchkiss + 4 CPs = automatic weapon with sherman damage. Instant win. Only thing to stop a hotchkiss before it gets behind you and starts circling(only tank in panzerkrieg capable of that, I want standard turret rotation speeds, speeds, moar tactics in panzerkrieg) is two HVAP M18 shots... Really retarded.

I saw it going for £18 on Play.com, so i bought it.

Worst comes to worst it's just an entertaining single player experience, and hell, i could use something new on the gaming area over the holiday.

ToV is OK but massively overpriced. Its the equivalent of a lot of games' downloadable content tbh and should be priced as such.

i think its evident that COH is on the back burner, this new expansion in reality is junk.  betcha by end of this year they are going to stop support and development for it, this new game is just a quick lets see if we can get more cash out of it before we kill it.

i only hope they fix the anti cheat stuff so us who like it and the people who put alot of time and effort into creating it can still use it.

The thing is, if you didn't have CoH or CoH:OF, ToV would be a great value because it unlocks all four sides for online play.  Basically, you would only miss out on the single player campaigns.

EDIT:  Oh, and another thing.  For all the hype about 'direct control' it fucking fails.  I expected something like MoW where you WASD to move and mouse to aim/fire...

direct control is absolutely shit on units with automatic weapons. Works good on the Tiger Ace and the RR squad in the campaign, but it's just too jumpy to be used in panzerkrieg, or on the automatic weapons in the campaigns.

Right click to tell them where to move and left click to fire. Its pretty fail trying to stop or reverse in direct fire as the turret follows you, you be much better if it was a WASD + mouse combo imo

I feel like this when I try using direct control.

It's the dumbest gimmick ever. It's so incredibly clumsy.

I think Relics next plan will be to make a shitty map pack for all their new game modes that costs more then it should. I'm really fail surprised that they only put out 1 map for each of these new modes. And didn't give many options.

Panzerkrieg, only 3 tanks, they should of done 2 from each faction, so PE/Wher should have the hetzer, and US/Brit should have the cromwell. Also you can't switch which side you start on.

Assault, there simply is no variety, nuff said.

Stonewall. You can only play as americans, once again, they could of put more effort into it. I also only think there is one difficulty. And me and 3 random people beat it first try. I didn't even know what I was doing tech wise either.

If ToV plans to be worth the money I spent on it, I really hope we see a patch in the next 2 months with new maps for those modes, because those are only going to be entertaining for about a week or two depending on how much I play them. And it'll be hard to get people to DL player made maps for these modes (not to mention that I hear the WB is broken anyways).

You can play as the other side in Stonewall, but it seems really difficult because when Crocs come you are very, very sad.

You can play as Wehr in stonewall.

Your not meant to play with direct fire on all the time. It's best used when you queue up orders, then take control. Like doing a drive by past a shot blocking wall.

But Men of War is a game for controlling 1 tank, or 10 men, not 3 tanks and 15 men like Coh,

However I guess panzerkrieg boils down to 1 tank anyway lol.
