probably because pios/engies have no sense other than lay mines/wire
without flamer upgrade its no combat unit -> flamer on all pios/engies since repair for pios is useless

Think about it.

Riflemen and Volksgrenadiers are better to fill unused Weapons eg. MG42 or Pak.

Engys (and pioneers) are only on the field for maybe 3 things:

1. To build a triage center (or bunker)
2. To block some random road with Tank Traps and Barbed Wire
3. To kill the enemy.

People like for their pop on the field to kill the enemy.  No use having 3 population sitting around when all they do is repair a Tank at very low sppeds.  Flamers can severely damage infantry blobs and don't worry about cover or armour so they're better.

With flamers at a cost of 50 Munitions now you can actually use them for killing things. and they make great additions in any unit combination as once an enemy squad falls into the yellow it's pretty much guaranteed to torch. I think more flame is a good thing and it's not just my inner Pyro saying that. They are more long term solutions to garrison and cover. which I always think is a good thing

A flamethrower costs 110 MP, 50 MU and costs 2-3 pop to field, while capable of doing the same as an assault grenadier can + fuck buildings.
Do you really have to ask why people are using flamethrowers?

Show's how biased you are aloha - the axis have much more close-range anti-inf infantry weapons, and the engineer gets suppressed way faster than the pioneer.
On the whole, both the engie and the pio die at comparable rates, and they are quite OP for their cost.

Price got lowered --> people try new tactics including cheaper flamers.

Give it some time and it will be fine.

Ive been using flamers even when the price was higher.

They will never be a true replacement for assualt troops because they seem to get suppressed by just about anything and tend to randomly explode

I used flamers more when IHTs weren't such coffins.  I'd rather have them get hurt by bullets than ROLFPWND by AT guns.

I was rally excited when I saw the price drop to 50 though.
