I have been testing a lot of things of late, and the latest thing I have been doing is playing a Canadian Artillery company of the british.    For this I also took the Infantry reinforcement.

I made a conscious choice to take howitzers over 25 pounders.  They are 20 fuel more, a few manpower more, and same population.  Are not effected by VICTOR TARGET, do not get creeping barrage, but have a much better range.

The canadian artillery doctrine has no global abilities, so I simply play the game as the american faction on relic online.

WHAT THIS DOES:

playing as american on relic online while being british in the launcher:
it allows you to build anything a american unit can build.
it STOPS you from building anything a british unit can build.
IT ALSO SHUTS OFF ALL GLOBAL ABILITIES YOU WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE. (no offmaps, no global buffs (ftfl, inspired assault, field repairs)
ALL UNIT ACTIONS STILL WORK.. Allies still have suppression fire, priests can still shoot, you can still treadbreak or button.

I could build a triage, or lay mines with engineers, but I couldn't build trenches or build a bofors.

The same goes for PE and Wehr.  If you are crazy PE player, and want your repair bunkers, this is the ONLY way to do it.  The only faction this would really be viable with is Tank hunters, as the others have global offmaps.  Just don't expect to build a PE flak/flakveirling and get the repair bunkers..

nm mind on repair bunkers, its only open to specific doctrines, therefore the PE can't get them anyways!

so does this mean that if I chose british as my american doctrine, i could use my bofors Cheesy just no off-maps?

if so...gotta try that but it also means i'm basically saying "I've got a bofors!!!"

Why not just make it so it does not matter which faction you pick for making emplacements?

All you have to do is copy the US building files to the CW and Cw to US etc.
