How do other people go about deciding the map when a game has been launched? Time and time I meet people who will stubbornly refuse to ready up or spend up to half an hour debating why a map is not acceptable in the game about to be played when in a recent game they were completely indifferent to this particular map.

If they know you have a 88, or lets reverse the situation and say that they opposing team knows that you are vehicle heavy, they will moan and demand a map making your strat harder to pull off by demanding a map which is small and closed (if you have a lot of vehicles) or big and open (if they have a 88).

It's getting piss annoying to have your company reduced to piss poor because some people cant handle taking out a 88 or fielding enough at against light vehicle spam. What is the legitimate, developer-side take on players deciding a map?

Shouldn't it be case in point that the host of the game in launcher decides the map in most cases, like he has decided the size of the game and the mode? Of course if he opens it for discussion, its all good. But there should be a guideline for how this is decided.

Whats the point of me getting any map dependant units if my opponents refuse to play any maps where I can use them?

Best way would be to decide in launcher. Something to facilitate that would be welcome.

IF there was a way to dictate the map in launcher, the arguments wouldnt be necessary. Let's say I see Elitegrens terror company and Killers defensive company hosting a game on RTC. Dun dun, I grab a extra mortar and a sniper, probably some arty. It's the impossibility of changing your company to facilitate the fact that someone is gonna demand a certain type of map to fit their strategy which makes the ingame discussion so heated. If it was possible to adjust a bit (for both sides) there wouldnt be such a aggressive demanding taking place ingame to deal with the presumed strategy of the other team.

Btw, demanding a map to suit your playstyle when you are not the host is deeply hippocritical and selfish. Why should the hosting party take a blow to their chances to improve yours?

A "random map" function would be ultimate, if there was a randomizer in the launcher, people will see the name of the map they will play. A bit of programming though...

says the man who drops arty on every single pak he spots because he cant outmicro them. **** **.

i think a mapvote in the launcher isnt necessary atm, devs have enough other things to do.
just decide the map in launcher chat

A simple solution to this problem would be being able to name the rooms they have created. In the room name people can just type what map they will be using.

The other factor is some maps are just plain bad and to be avoided at all costs (Arras).

well for me, i drop arty on paks cuz i'd rather them be destroyed, than just the crew killed, much like you axis players use schecks to kill at guns instead of just using infantry to decrew it.

back on topic

i'ave also had this issue where i had someone forcing a map on me cuz he was a piss poor ass hole who wanted a map that suited his play-style. It's very unfair and i always try to pick either just a random map or a neutral map that plays both to infantry heavy, vehicle heavy, arty heavy etc companies.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I'll look into something in a few versions.

Looks like a feature people would like.

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Why don't you collect up your love beads and potpourri and find something constructive to do.

I agree with creating a "random map" feature, dunno how practical it is to implement, but imo it would be the ideal solution.

I guess it would also require a selection of maps that could be put in a general pool.

Is Akranadas in this thread? Fucker can't stop bragging about his "waifu taldeer" and cosplaying in an eldar farseer costume while shouting "Flithy monkeighs!" interspaced with random eldar gibberish.

Reminds me of our game yesterday, where smokaz wanted to play RedBall Express when i knew he had a 88 (ok turned out he had two)and he lied about it Tongue.

The problem is, there are not enough maps that are like Tanteville for example. Maps like Tanteville/St. Come du Mont/ and to some extend Abbeville have the perfect mixture of open field and close combat.

So 88s will be useful there, but people will have a way to avoid it. I blame the maps, not the players. Make more maps with fields and cities or something.
