Is it really right that a howitzer is supposed to start with a 180 second recharge time when its finished built the first time? I dont see this limitation on nebels and hummels.

I assume that's because weapons have to recharge after being crewed.

Nebs start crewed howies don't.

I'm not too sure if we can get rid of the recrew bug but make it fire with no cooldown when first built.  I'll bring it up and see what could happen with it.

In that case, it needs to be implemented for the nebelwerfer too. All crewable weapons on cooldown should share the same rules.

Strangely, it only seems to have been abused by the allies....

Though it wouldn't make much difference for the nebel, its a 90sec cooldown.

Nebel, Howitzer, and 25 pounder (?) should be the only ones that can be abused like this, right?

25lbr doesn't have a crew, it's 1 unit. This recrewing change affect the Howitzer and Nebel only as far as I know.

There has to be some kind of coding way to differentiate between the first crewing of the weapon and a recrew? This is a serious nerf to the howie, imo. If it can't be fixed buildtime of the howie needs to go down drastically to something like 10 seconds.

9 pop doing nothing for 3+ minutes (depending on VET) when you are being pushed back by creeping paks and mgs on small maps is a horrible blow to infantry doctrine's stalebreak ability.

In fact in a lot of games this could mean the howitzer gets spotted and easymoded by V1's or stormtroopers before it even gets a single barrage off.

agreed with what smokaz said, it really sucks bringing on my howie, waiting for it to be built, then wait even longer for it to do anything.

I was wandering about that myself. Yeah, it sucks at the moment but I wouldn't say its game-crippling.

Brainstorming:

A special modified crew comes with the construction car? (that has a one time ability that makes the howie being able to fire immediately, to solve the immediate problem)

meh, waste of 400mp and 170fuel when u bring it out, it builds then a few min later somehow your enemy saw it and start attacking it, decrew it, you fend off the attack, recrew it and have to wait another amount of time...

i feel your pain usvcorps where you enjoyed getting over 105 cooldown by constantly recrewing

but that is how it should work...that decrewing the 105 does not give your opponent the advantage off a free barrage

On the other hand, I got cooldown bug abused on tanteville twice in a row (he stopped after dasnoob threatened to hand out a ban...) which probably cost us a good chunk of the game (decrewed nebel + 88 + dead bunker).

This is a double edged blade, IF your enemy decrews your howitzer he also has to wait for a full cooldown cycle before firing it at you. Personally i believe if you lost the damn thing you deserve to get shot in the face by it. But If you decrew an enemy Nebel you also have to wait an entire cooldown before firing it. Theres probably a way to get it working as intended but with everything else that needs implementing it'll take a backseat.

In the meantime we can just hand out harsher punishments for exploiting

mortars + at guns took out the bunkers near the 88... + better teamwork beat your teams awful double flak campfest on the easiest map for 88's.

btw; vet requirements for howies should be increased. 24/53 xp for vet2/vet3? hmm quite easy to get when howies usually get like 15+++ kills every game for sure.
