I don't know what date the helmet is referring to, especially i think we can more relate it to the heroic day of d-day or independence day.

But this is rather in relation to Ill conceived display of patriotism. (one of my favorite subjects)

It's Guderian, he has a right to be offensive. Quite a few troops died for his right, it would be a stain on their memories if Guderian couldn't do stuff like this.

...Amongst other things, of course. I have a very dim view on nationalism and patriotism and 1776 in general. An even dimmer view on militaries and "following orders" blindly. Which encompasses most wars. American conduct in the Philippines was especially ghastly.

Strangely enough, I'm American.

No one has died for our rights in north america.  Maybe a little in the war for independence. (I live in canada, no fighting up here I think, a lil but not really).  And no nation has ever threated us.  Britian maybe a little in world war 2, but not really.  Now oil,  we'll pour out all the blood we got for that shit, unlike blood, it aint renewable.

Quite a few people died for my rights in the 60s. And no, I'm not black.
