Shotguns for close range combat??
«

I was thinking maybe there would be a way to skin an M1897 Trench Shotgun for the Americans for some nice close combat capabilities. Perhaps allow it to be unlocked for the Armor doctrine since it is kinda lacking?

Sappers needed piat ambush cause the old piats were crap.
The new piats are awesome... so I dunno if they need it anymore. Maybe make it a purchaseable upgrade?

Mhm oke the piat ambush rocks but remove the cover requirement please?
And yes a upgrade would make sense, a piat shotgun sapper squad might be more resilient.
They would also make sense on rifles.
I can imagine them being a counterpart to volks Mp40, 1 for 50mun or so, or even 2 for say 80?
And those shottie squads would exel at clearin enemy support weapons at close range, small canister shots or so with medium reload/weapon cooldown.

Honestly, not many people use PIAT ambush, and it's not that useful to spend money on. 60 second cooldown, only in cover to cloak ability that goes away if you turn for more than 15 degrees... Is kind of fail. It's a nice enough ability, but not worth paying extra on.
Cloak anywhere would be gay, however, then it WOULD require a muni cost attached.
Implementing shotguns would be a pain beyond belief.

I doubt Shotguns were used that much in WW2 since Standard Rifle of M1 Garand and Thompson performs in this twice as good with Mag size and with Fire speed. This ain't Dawn of War 2

Because a forum post should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.

Just because they didnt use it as much doesnt mean we cant use it as much. BTW, there was a shotgun during WW2, it was known as the trench gun.

I dont quite understand the first part. I love using piat ambush since your sappers dont die that fast that way, maybe leave piat ambush as it is but give it also to Piat-Commandos?

In my opinion its pretty balanced considering it ups and downs, they have to be in cover, they cannot move or they'll uncloak, and that ability only works for 10sec or so after the first shot is fired, after that they become visible, and i think the increasedd damage also only applies to the first shot they make.
but who am i to argue with you since you already pointed out that obvious balance issue so nicely

Wait, PIAT Ambush gives a 100% damage increase?
I mean, for real?

Not as far as I can tell.
It just lets you fire 3 volleys without decloaking.

I swear I read someone's post saying that PIAT Ambush does double the damage, but looking back now I can't find it.
I swear guys, I'm not crazy!
But giving Sappers shotguns wouldn't really accomplish much. To be effective, they'd have to get in close, but to get/be there would get them torn apart by just about any axis unit.

If I get shot and it's a gay medic fixing me up, he's not gonna be fondling my balls while he does it. You can't patch a chest wound and suck a cock at the same time.

It would really depend on the shotty's stats.
A Flamer has a max range of 20, not too bad, and even at long range is effective vs is intended targets (garrisoned units, units in cover, etc).
I'd imagine a shotgun would be more like an SMG than a flamer (and have a very short effective range), and not be able to fight targets at longer ranges, and physically have to get behind an enemy's cover to be most effective.

Armor Company does not need better infantry. That's why it's called Armor Company, not Armor and Infantry Together Forever Company.

New PIATs also underwent a DOUBLE nerf after being made awesome, they don't need to be nerfed again.
