can't stand wow,  can't stand mmo's tbh. I tried Guild Wars and was bored before I even got out of the first city. I fought a little and felt like it was too easy. Now, games like Titan Quest which is an rpg but you can play with up to like 6 people and diablo, those are challenging and way better than WoW.

Plus the money WoW is sucking out of the "game industry" is probable killing the hope of any future games like CoH.

That aren't made by Blizzard.

The fact that it's a child's game and people would rather soil themselves than to get up from the computer whilst in it's company I'm sure have nothing to do with it.
Quoted for truth.

To be fucking honest, Im sick of all the MMO's that have no penalties in game.  They baby the players and SUCK the fun out.  I understand that games like the ORIGINAL EQ back in the day was a masochists wet dream - it felt like you ACHIEVED something, and it was DIFFICULT.

Wow is... a spam / twitch fest.  It makes my inner child cry.
So you didn't heard about Final Fantasy online where the best guild was trying to kill  one boss. It took 18 hours and they didn't make it

I really like MMOs.

DAOC probably remains my all time favourite game.

WoW is just shit though.

Yea, but the game sucks.  The controls and interface are very wierd...

Now if only some developer could make a good mmo that is challenging and rewarding.

WoW sucks, i played it and it gets frustrating if you see people that really have no skill with the best equipment and blah who kill you because they have better stats.

AoC was heck more fun, though it got boring after a while.

Let's see what Star Wars: The old Republic brings!

You should try Eve Online.

A far superior game to WoW. (If you're into internet spaceshipz)

Its actually in the neighborhood of 140 bucks a year if you get the 6mo subscription. (I've been playing EvE for almost 4 years now) 1/20th of a single paycheck for a years worth of entertainment!

There's nothing like locking a Carebear's expensive battleship down, hailing him through in game chat, and asking for his internet monies in exchange for his ship's freedom.

I had the World of Warcraft trial and liked it enough to buy it before my computer died.  My old computer was wicked old anyways, and frankly its death probably saved me 15-30 dollars for the 2 months of WoW I would be playing before I got bored of ANOTHER MMORPG.  I like the games, but I'm fairly ADD when it comes to games (don't really make commitments for long, unless for some games like Call of Duty or Red Orchestra where I found great clans).  So, I usually play the free ones (Guild Wars is my favorite, at least if you've got at least one friend to go through the game with).  I tried the trial of EVE, and yeah, the space thing is a very unique take on MMORPG's, but I couldn't really stay interested for very long.

Actually you can in a way, thanks to the way everything works. Once you hit a certain point, you're only gaining very small %'s for very big chunks of time. A weapon skill like "Large Blaster Specialization" could take up to a month to finish, only giving you a mere 2% benefit.

The only benefit an older player has over a younger player (to an extent) is the amount of ships he/she can fly via crosstraining.

I.E. my character is 3 years old...47 million SP, 10 mil in gunnery etc... etc... AmPm's character has close to 70 mil SP. From what I remember, he can fly all 4 races of ships effectively...I can only fly 2 (Ammarr and gallente up to Carrier / dreadnaught).

Yet if we went up against eachother in say, Tier 2 battlecruisers...it would be an even match. (Except for the fact I have HG slaves and an alt with max gang boost)

In terms of PVP, a 1 year old player who knows what he's doing definitely has a shot against a 3 year old player. (I've pwned many a 2003 character during my first 2006 year in eve)

And thats another reason I love eve.

You do not have to have a ton of skill points to play eve.  You can be ready for PvP in just under a couple weeks if you choose to.  Learning to use T1 frigates for PvP takes about that much time.  You can fly a T2 frig in just under a month as well,  Intercepters are great and welcome in just about any fleet.

Like LeTon said, skillpoints really only affect what ships your able to fly.  You will want more skillpoints to fly a battleship for instance, however a battleship has limited use in small fleet warfare.  They are for larger fleets.  And even more skillpoints for Capital ships (Carrier/Dreadnought),  but capitals are pretty much only used in very large alliance sized fleets,  some small low sec corps use them as well but not often.

*states as quietly and meekly as he can* I play under Malgoroth or Odiath... on Elune...

I know it's an incredibly retarded game, but the easy clicky/twitchy-ness is why I play it. It's my cooldown game after I play something intense like EiRR, and I don't play it nearly as much as this mod.

Sometimes solo battleships work, but they are very vulnerable to getting tackled or ambushed.
