Seriously, what?  I've been accused of having gimmick companies as of late.  Some players even say I can't win without using some type of gimmick.  What the eff is a fricking gimmick?

Let's take 3 flamers in a halftrack as an example.  This is something I like to use all the time, and people tell me it's a cock-sucking gimmick.  How in the world is this a fricking gimmick?  The engineer/pioneer has the main weakness of having low health and only 3/2 squad members.  By putting them in a halftrack, I eliminate both of those weaknesses during their most vulnerable stage (running across an open area to use their flamethrowers).  Is this playing smart or using a gimmick?  I think it's playing smart.  Using this method I can easily take out an AT gun that's really bugging me along with any nearby support weapons, all because I smartly put my engineers/pioneers in a halftrack.

The funny thing is that these "gimmicks" that I'm being accused for are so easily countered.  Let's take another example.  I'm a huge fan of vehicle/tank micro (I used to run 6 GS PIVs) so I made an armor company mainly focused on light armor with AT guns, 2 shermans, and riflemen (I have nothing more than the usual amount).  Sure, this company could do pretty well in the hands of a player with competent micro, but a few fricking PIVs backed by paks could EASILY take out my company.  How about supporting your PIVs when you push up rather than using them to chase my T17s, getting your butt WP'd, and then getting raped 5 feet in front of an AT gun?

In EiR, what counts as a "normal" company and a "gimmick" company?  It has always been my understanding that the way EiR is set up, each company can be made to fit each player's own play style.  I want to find the fricking answer to this problem.  Smart play, or no-testicles gimmick play?

If I'm wrong, then somebody PLEASE tell me what a "normal" company is.  Please, oh wise ones, teach me how to use a REAL company instead of a company of gimmicky heroes.

Play whatever company style and setup you want. The adaptable will counter and come out with their own unique companies. The rigid will keep on failing no matter what happens.

Admit it, it's much more insulting to lose to someone who has a theme for their army. Ever been pissed at losing a game to a balanced, well rounded company? Fuck no.

Ever been pissed at losing a game to someone who has the max amount of a certain annoying unit? Hell yes. Everyone has.

3 Pershings.
Oversupplied AB.
Arty Spam.
P4 Spam.
King Tigers.
3 Commando Snipers.
Rangerspam.

All these are gimmicks. Tough to beat, tough to counter. You've got to theme your own damn army to counter this shit. When you beat the other guy's shitball min/max set up, he'll accuse you of gimmickry too.

how would you call a game with 3 armor players with 3 pershings each, onboard mechanics and field repair?  Roll Eyes Tongue Tongue Tongue

the problem with gimmick companys is a fundamental EiR gameplay problem
you can only use the counters in your prebuild company and not counter it by building or teching the counter

it would help to see at least the doctrines in launcher before setting ready

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

that was why many people used the website instead of the launcher (beside that the old launcher was crashing very often)...to see the doctrines and change the company a bit

Take this example:

2 evenly skilled players (axis vs allies) with "normal" companies (I still have no idea what a normal company is).  The axis player beats the allied player.  How will the allied player win the rematch?  The allied player could either get better, or the faster and easier route is to modify their battalion to counter the predictable one.

How is being stubborn and predictable a better alternative to having an unpredictably different company?  If I have a "normal" company that 5+ other players are also using and that everyone knows about, then isn't that easier to counter because people already know what's coming and they can make a note to themselves to stock on more counters?

I think the difference between a counter-company and a gimmick company is that one is tactical and the other is extreme.

Or the inevitable:
I'm fighting a defensive player.
Better use the calli as bait so he wont arty my vet 3 pershings

Or the fun:
I'm fighting an all AB player, better buy some extra pumas to drive around all over Tongue

Or the best:
"I have OBM"
"Shit lets buy lots of AT"
"Hehe but AT will die to OBM JEEPSPAM!"

Idk if it was you or not but it could have been that game that was the only loss against my light vehicle spam.  My micro was really failing me in that game.

well most american armor companies that dont involve pershing usually contain largish amounts of light vehicles.
