v2.601
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where mines could be used to destroy newly spawned enemy tanks and prevent further respawn
- Fixed a couple of issues to make COH easier to mod"

Cos these are the most pressing issues in coh............

Yay relic didn't forgot about mods.

Then.

To further explain the changes that we made to support modding, we added a SCAR query so that modders could find out what products a player owns, allowing them to know if players have access to Tales of Valor units etc. Secondly, some modders that were working on adding new factions for the game found that they were locked out by one of our in-game product checks. We have changed this check so that modders can add new factions to the game.

Epic faceplam. Will just complicate modding, forcing users to have all expansions.

I like how Relic's "modding support" is more like "ToV support".

There wont be less stags.  Just now everyone who uses any of the new units will be forced to buy ToV.

= less ToV units = less stags.

Also...the ToV check, does this mean that if you dont have ToV, that you can't get the units in EIR anymore lol

exactly.

Why I have no clue what I'm talking about, when you just confired what I said, mods like battle of the bulge will not work properly, since they have mixed out pe and wehr units there. It's just forcing to buy expansions, that's how it looks for me.

lol, you shouldn't be able to use them in the first place if you don't own ToV.

You have no clue was referring to you "this complicates modding" which I guarantee you know next to nothing about what we do as far as actual development. This gives us a safe guard to have the option to only allow players who own the certain games to us the certain features.

Tales of Valor and Opposing Fronts are not going to be, and never will be requirements to play this modification. At the best, those who bought Opposing Fronts will get to play British and Panzer Elite and those that bought Tales of Valor will get to use all the units.

If you want to use all the units, then use buy all the expansions. If you don't care about Panzer Elite, British, Staghounds, Kangaroo ect. Then don't buy the expansions, we're not going to force anyone here to buy the entire collection just to play the mod.

So next time you mouth off, especially with a moderator badge make sure you're packing the correct facts.

yeah like relic does for vCOH and said yeah ToV you can play without having it   u have the choice just play with COH/OF units against OP crap or buy TOV to abuse some shit by yourself

the ToV units are completely broken probably the mod would be better by removing them or just use the models and make completely new units

Actually guys, from everything I can figure out about this patch its more about vanilla COH rather then mods.

The thing with the mods is, we aren't using the TOV units in truth. EIRR and FOF anyways, we have completely new EBPS/SBPS/UPGRADES/SLOT ITEMS.  its only the blueprints and animations that share the same files, which could also be changed if needed.

when you research TOV a bit, you find there are ways for people to unlock TOV units for general play, that they shouldn't be able to.  Not talking MODS here, we're talking about general vanilla play. I am not really concerned about what this patch does to those who mix and mingle units in MODIFICATIONS.  After all how/why would they care about units when they go and release the OE themselves allowing us to add more units like the jagdpanzer/jagdtiger and the such.

Lots of things point more to the vanilla side of things, for instance the vanilla units check in their requirements for TOV, which the mods all remove internally.

So far, at least till it goes live and we see how it actually works, I have no fear about where EIRR is and were it will be after the patch.

What is with the hostility.  While it may not complicate modding it DOES pretty much force anyone who wants to make full use of the mod to purchase all expansions.

ToV is not worth the money it costs right now to just be able to use a few new units.  And if you dont buy it well now youve pretty much eliminated a whole doctrine build for the US and the use of staghounds and kangaroo's for the british.  Kangaroos are terrible anyway but thats besides the point.

IMO if it comes to the point where we have to purchase an expansion to get the new units then we should just remove them from the mod so people dont need to buy ToV.

Yes but most of us on here already owned VCoH and OF...  Thus buying ToV is stupid for us.  I dont play VCoH at all anymore.  I only play mods.  So the new campaigns, new MP modes and crap mean nothing to me.  40 bucks for a couple new units is so not worth it.

I totally see what Salan is saying, you guys should definitely read what he says as I believe that will smooth over the concerns for this hotfix.

I myself don't own TOV, and there is a reason why it is doing so poorly... you're paying 40 bucks for 6 new units, 1 per faction that REPLACE an existing vehicle.  At best it's a $10-$15 expansion for me and I will get it once it drops to bargain bit pricing.  And anyone who is playing this mod well, they're big fans of COH... thus if you love COH, you most likely got OF for the Brits (who doesn't love them?) and even more German units... so yeah, TOV isn't a good buy unless you have none of the games and got the big bundle pack which my friend got all 3 COH games for under 30 bucks, now that's a deal!

Though yeah if it ever became true that you needed TOV to play this mod, it would really hurt the US faction more than anyone else (alternative tank destroyer, a better armored car/tank).  But as I said earlier, Salan pointed out they are just using the animations files and such, not the actual unit, so I don't really see a problem here.  Cool

Now I definitely support Relic's support of the modding community, and I just can't wait till they release what TOV should have been... more units AND factions (Russians/Italians anyone?  Grin)

The only logical reason I can think why they waited so much to *support the modding community* is because they didn't want to loose sales thanks to the awesomeness of some mods. This "hotfix" pretty much means they won't be releasing any kind of expansion for CoH anymore tbh.
