so I tried to watch it online, but HBO sucks, and doesn't have it...are there any other places to find episodes or do I need to find other methods...?

They're often played on TV (I think the history channel likes to re-run them), you can buy the dvd set of them, or you can go find a torrent of them yourself if you're into that kind of thing.

Unlike most people I wouldn't recommend torrenting because you're missing out on the extra features probably, plus you're not supporting the original crew which for something like this is a bit of a bad move. I always believe in supporting those people who make us our entertainment.

Yeah i watch it aswell. This thing is alot better than BoB, or well it adds more to it than BoB did, although some of that Brotherhood feeling is missing.
But the fighting scenes are cool, last 3-4 Episodes, lots of killing!

Yeah its too good.
Lemme get somme ammo for the 30 cal.
The japs gonna wait till i ran around half the island then attack again when the 30 cal is reloaded.
Its so dramatic.

I wanna shoot spielberg and hanksy in the face tbh.
They should work together with Tom Clancy to make most shitty ami propanga movie of all times.

Favorite part for me was on the airfield, where they set up the mortar and bombard the Japs rushing towards them alongside a Jap tank. They get bombed very nicely. Also the part right before or after it, when they barrage the airfield building defended by the Japs, aimed for specific targets/windows, episode 6.

what are you talking about? a lot of americans are dying as well even favorite characters you may have. and yes, the japs did line up like that and get mowed down by .30 cal fire its semi realistic the story can only tell the parts that the people who told them the story saw. The japanese didn't learn how to retreat for a good minute.

No, they did care about dying. Not all of them were suicidal soldiers.

i know not all but at the beginning they did a lot of suicide banzai charges, it wasn't until it was too late in the war that they started to learn how to fight like a "modern" army. They had the advantage and in some cases better stuff but they were so reckless with their men and equipment that they eventually succumbed to the American rifle blob.

The "suicide banzai charges" are testing the lines for weaknesses; most armies in WW2 did that, Russians did it to the extreme.

Yeah but they used Penal companies and punishment units in extreme hazard. The Japanese used everyone for it. Radical youth indoctrination FTW

The "suicide banzai charges" are testing the lines for weaknesses; most armies in WW2 did that, Russians did it to the extreme.

Definitely not for Guadacanal or New Guinea. The Japanese would advance until resistance was met, scout the line, and then start the Banzai charge; probing the lines for weak points was done before the charge was carried out.

To be fair to the Japanese, they weren't suicidal; Banzai charges worked very well in China, where the average Battalion was understandably demoralized and armed with bolt-action rifles. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the average Marine battalion in the Pacific commanded far more ordnance (semi-automatic/automatic guns, mortars, or artillery pieces/naval guns) than the average Chinese battalion, with predictable results.

Saying that the Russians underwent suicidal Banzai charges to the extreme of Imperial Japan is...unreasonable. Banzai charges are characterized, not by overwhelming numbers, but by an almost-exclusive reliance on light infantry (a necessity for Japanese offensive doctrine). Whatever can be said about the Russians, they did NOT suffer from over reliance on light infantry (massive amounts of artillery and tank support). Nor did they suffer from "when all is lost, charge at your enemy" syndrome that characterized many Japanese Banzai charges. Russian doctrine was not nearly as suicidal and, I would argue, not as fanatic or zealous.

And yes, massacres like that did happen, and it isn't "propaganda".  Read the books. A few overcoming many was uncommon...but it DID happen. Especially in the Pacific.
