Currently when you have severe map control disadvantage for 3 minutes while not recapturing lost sectors you lose.  After a multitude of game overs due to this on the winning and losing side I feel the mechanic is to potent of a penalty for a mere 3 minutes.  This might be attributed to map design, sector layout or the mechanic itself.

Will add suggestions after some discussion and thorough thought.

Fight for the map, you cant always expect there to be a long ass mortar war around middle. Fight for the map - as hard as you can.

EIRR is a game of map control. its not about who kills the best, the most or whatever. Its about controlling the most map and forcing the other player group off the field.*

Only in extremely "stale" or even games does the map control perspective sometime go more or less out the window. Then somebody like caps 1 - *one*, sector, and everyone is flailing to react to it.

Far too many players are good at understanding what counters to bring, but idiots when it comes to the map.

Either you have to be the guy that places a 1 man squad in the corner of each held sector defensively, or you have to be the offender (backcapper) yourself.

but at the same time, i seriously hate losing games because of someone running around cappin stuff in a halftrack.

also, iv'e lost games like that and there were at least 2 games where we were making a clear comeback and even got 40% of the map back bu tthen we just lost with like 35 pop left, it was such crap.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

If you are losing to map control with anything of worth in your company left, you are doing it wrong. Map > everything else.

I dont find the map that important at all.
You just have to keep a couple sectors under your control and you're fine.
I make sure I have some sectors (try to keep it at 50% ofcourse) and for the rest I focus on killing the enemy the best way I can, killing their units untill they have nothing left.

I don't see how hiding broken squads in the corner of a sector constitute as holding the sector much less a good gameplay mechanic.

This  tells me the mechanic is broken. How can a 1 man squad holding a sector, possibly winning the game, be considered good game mechanics?
I also think running around in a half track, avoiding confrontation, just to win by capping is not good game mechanics.
The Win or Lose of a battle should be determined by kills and territory combined.

The "1 man squad holding sector" problem is only evident on maps with bad sectoring, usualy its quite easy to find where the cap holder is and flush them out.
