Yeah, EA totally ruined Westwoods fortune with real retired "pornographic" actors.
And also the graphic, yes.

Which is why I've played over a thousand ladder games of CoH and probably near to 500 games of EiR, clearly.
IT'S SO OBVIOUS!
So obvious that you've completely missed the point. Read it again and give me a real response.

1v1 angoville.

Sir, I challenge you to chess and then CoH and then starcraft!
And then we will have a cup of tea, the most popular drink on earth, followed by soccer, the most popular sport.
I'm not much of one for soccer but the first four sound good :p

My nitpicky point is the resource system.
I love coh for it resources on the frontline.
It is nice in that it encourages aggressive map control, though at times I feel like the maps are a touch large and many areas go controlled uncontested because there simply aren't enough units to contest them.

1v1 angoville.
I find 1v1's don't really reflect skill, Just who has the better Company set up/Army. For example, PE will never/nearly never win a 1v1 in my eyes since of their lack of supression :/

I'm not challenging him to EiR. My post's assessment was specific to retail CoH.

Angoville is easy, it's all about whos first to reach that and that in start.

Could be on that other angoville-like map, too. That's also fairly balanced. I'm not terribly fussed about the map.

No one ever argued COH was a better game for competitive play.
COH is an amazing RTS which offers fantastic singleplayer (certainly the first COH's SP anyway) with an exciting and innovative multiplayer component (which unfortunately has gone downhill since OF) but does not have what it takes to ever become a truly competitive RTS because of certain design decisions.
That being said, EIR > all other RTS. If it wasn't for this mod I would have long given up on COH a long time ago. And ever since OF & this mod I just can not for the life of me appreciate vanilla COH multiplayer any more the way I used to in the early days.

If anyone is seriously trying to argue that Starcraft isn't the most complex and strategic/skill intensive RTS out there right, well quite simple they're wrong. Starcraft is still the benchmark for competitive RTS and none of your little gripes will change that. However what I will say is that EIR is a hell of a lot more fun to play and at the end of the day, that's what should matter more.

It's not the most complex RTS out there. It's just well balanced and extremely popular in Korea.
That's like saying WoW is the most complex MMO, just because so many people play it.

So you're saying if A is complex and popular, then if B is popular then it must also be complex.

No, but they did argue that
Quote from: Akranadas
Nobody cares about the esports aspect of it.
which is clearly untrue, otherwise they wouldn't exist and be so successful.

I disagree, but it's difficult to argue matters of taste. We shall agree to disagree upon that point unless you care to bring up anything objective

Ever the successful diplomat, I see. I notice you did not have anything to say about the depth of skill required, would you care to comment?

Of RTS's I cannot think of a more complex game and its popular everywhere not just korea like some weird generalization (It is popular everywhere and extremely popular in korea yes)
The super intense from start to finish, where you can down right lose in the first minutes.
The amazing macro aspect of the game (Cutting one probe can be game changing)
The timing
The roof of how good you can be is unparalleled
However as said by many here I do agree: omgmod and coh is awesome

No more skilled than you have to be in any other game considering equally competitive opponents Mal.
You go to competition its a whole new ballgame with anything, like Counterstrike is very different with pub games than ladder games.
The skill required in a game is directly related to the quality of opponent you face.

Starcraft is a very good game, and yes CoH has random shit. You can loose a battle due to pure nothing. You may call starcraft *just dancing* but really, that requires more micro than CoH. You dance around in CoH too you know, just at a slower pace. 2 reavers and a ship with superb top of the line protoss micro can defeat a good piece of a zerg base.
