Promotion to a different league isn't based on placement in your division.

It's more akin to a hidden ELO rating

Wining definitely raises you but it has nothing to do with a numerical rank placement

I did the campaign on brutal but part of it was when battle.net was down I can't be arsed to go through that suffering again.

Right Now I'm playing with a few practice partners trying to get my skill back for multiplayer.

For any of you actually interested in SC2 as a competitive sport
http://www.teamliquid.net/

It's a great source for advice/tips(I'll warn any of you asshats that like to troll now, they have the toughest moderators of anywhere. You can look in almost any thread and see a ban)

Teamliquid's a pretty good site, yeah. The problem I think they have, though, is everyone over there is waaaaaay too seriousface about everything. I mean you can discuss a topic seriously without being so overbearing, ya know? I'd be free to play some team games or scrims with you if you'd like, I could use the practice.

Anyone high up on diamond yet?

I've only played around 20 games or so since launch, but I was platinum before diamond was invented, then diamond for two resets after diamond was invented in the beta, and just reached diamond with my last game. Beat a 4th ranked diamond player the other day. Do I count? Can we brain-wrestle?

cannonball is rank 5 in a diamond division: samiku quest

Cannonball also plays Terran :p

Wining definitely raises you but it has nothing to do with a numerical rank placement

Well, the two are correlated. Your rank, hidden weighted-elo, and public weighted-points are all related based on how often you win, who you win against, and how hard you win against them. The criteria for determining exactly how that functions is hidden, as are the times to jumping up divisions, but if you just win a lot you'll be going up divisions in no time.

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

I play 3-4 games SC2 a week, watch Day9, check HD starcraft on youtube. You don't need to be good to enjoy starcraft. Sometimes I stop by GR to see if a good replay has been pasted to the popular replays there. I read the occasional teamliquid thread. There's too much clicking involved in playing it, to compete at a higher level. Even the "calm" players are averaging 100 cpm.

If you check these whenever you feel like it you stay updated, imo. Seeing as its *the* professional online multiplayer game, it seems adamant to at least stay in contact with the development of it.

In the future, you will be plugged into the game matrix style and your mind will limit your actions not your willingness to become like Day9, a guy who wears sweaty tshirts and has to have a pillow across his gut to avoid dying from carpal tunnel. I love you but it seems like you can go completely mad from SC2.

10 years dude. 10 years of sc2. Sc2 killed mah baby.

I got into the gold league after the first 5 practice games (I would have started as diamond but I got lolzwtfbbqpwned by a protoss guy in 2 minutes on the 5th match), always played as zerg so far. "Balanced" my ass, it's fucking frustrating to play vs terran players when they have good micro.

If I get shot and it's a gay medic fixing me up, he's not gonna be fondling my balls while he does it. You can't patch a chest wound and suck a cock at the same time.

You can no longer start as diamond, I had to grind like ten games out of platinum league before it promoted me.

Nah, only to platinum now. Could explain why the leagues are no longer quite 20% of all players a piece.

I should wipe your vet for having made me click that link Masacree and boosting it's views by another count.

In other news Day[9]'s thread on TL.net has 9500 replies and 3.58 million views.

Thats insanity
