Has anybody tried a fully/majority mechanised company before besides myself?
IE, most infantry being in HT's or Bren Carriers - Yes I'm speaking Allied here, though I'd still be curious as to how Axis would handle it - My interest is primarily in how others have tried it as Allies.
My experience says that it's extremely hit or miss, because of the majority of your force being in HT's, you worry less about HMG's and Mortars due to the fact that your fellas arent looking them in the face as often. The flip side is that shrecks and paks become more of an issue while your trying to get wherever you want to go.
Also slightly unrelated note, but every single game that I've played with HT's that have infantry in them, they have re-rolled when I've had a chance to re-roll. Which has been about 3-4 games.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

There is nothing that hasn't been done!
Except for a tank only company.

The only reason it hasn't is due to the fact that you'd have a stupid amount of resources left over. >.>

Carriers are always rerolled I think. However they don't gain any experiance at all after they are rerolled....
Its also somewhat map depedant too, as a narrow map would fail as most what you can do is drive into the teeth of the enemy.
The best faction to make a Mechanized company is PE really. They are pretty much designed around light vehieles.

Oh yeah, I've done fully-mechanised companies before.
The best infantry for that is flamethrower and mine engineers/pioneers : they're able to put down mines to interdict enemy reinforcements, while themselves being a very very capable short range assault platform. By residing in the halftrack - their sole weakness (which is dieing before getting close) is negated, and their usefullness rises exponentially. Having a few sticky riflemen is also pretty damn fun if the enemy happens to have a heavy/super-heavy. Suicide clown car sticky is one of the oldest, but still one of the most efficient ways of dealing with a heavy tank. I've also tried creating 5xShrek clown cars (3 grenadiers, 2 with 2x Shreks 1 with 1xShrek) for insta-gibbing tanks... Mixed results, really - the grenadiers kept getting rolled over or mass-sniped before killing anything properly - though if it hit : most tanks would just get alpha'ed.
My brits mechanised company basically featured tons of PIATs and tons of riflenades aboard carriers. Brens do OK as well - but I just wanted to do indirect fire weaponry as a theme (remain behind hedges/buildings dealing damage without taking any back).
All of these tactics worked pretty damn well.

Hence why it's hit or miss. You gain the advantage of great manoeuvrability and being able to choose where to engage the enemy... But if the map is narrow enough in nature it can work against you.
As US it tends to mean you have lots of HMG's on wheels once you've got your infantry to their destination, or you can do little epic flanks on demand. Very cost efficient to drop a pak with an unupgraded HT.

I would bust a nut if we could hook up ATGs to halftracks.
We know you can do it! BotB has them! I dont care if I lose the vet, it would be worth it for insta deploy ATGs!

Ill make a video of it when I get home. Afaik, the crew dissapears, the ATG stabailizer legs fold in and tilt the gun up? but theres some occasional lag of the gun. Im not sure whats been done with it since I played last year. I dont think it looks that bad. Certainly no less silly when we had the half fix M10. And unless we can find a way to preserve vet on the ATG i dont think we will want to do it. But tbh, it should be no different than loading an ATG into a HT, mechanically wise. Im sure there's more to it, but that's my understanding of it right now.

basically what happens is that the atg is loaded into the halftrack and the animation stays behind it, instead of disappearing inside of it.

victor target ran a pretty packed mechanized company in the past. pretty much a shitload of halftracks with rifles who either had nades or stickies.

http://www.xfire.com/video/34fe0c/Looks good enough to me. Hooking it up to a halftrack was alittle more clunky, but it was deff. functional. Especially with that heavy, slow Pak40 that I tested in the video.

I don't think it should be a doctrine ability, I think it should just be an EIRR feature.
Then we can toss in a PaK 40 and non-emplacement 17pdr.

agreed. Doctrines could enhance it tho.

Looks a little...Funky. But I would love that in this move. Will make me actually want to use HT's with my PE/Wehr Companys Don't think I would be allowed to use my Wehr Ambulances as ATG towers however D:
