It would be nice if some of the more popular maps could be updated to include rain as a possible weather choice.

Granted, It's purely cosmetic, granted, some people have computer's that cannot handle it (I couldn't before I upgraded a good while back) but it would be good to see rain be a bit more popular on maps for those that can handle it, stormy weather especially.

Why? Well, simply because wars weren't always fought in ideal conditions, and if everybody in a room has the specs to handle rain, then why not?

Rain, night, stormy, stormy night... All good environments and help to make an interesting atmosphere for a game.

I wouldn't mind seeing snow, but that would require a full remake of a map as far as I'm aware - So I'm really not expecting anything in the snow lines.

A simple suggestion that's aimed at the mappers rather than the devs themselves... I'd have posted this in the other section in mapping but for some reason I can't create threads there...

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

I couldn't agree more, I love playing in the rain as it adds atmosphere and I definitely plan for rainy nighttime to be a weather option in the maps I'm making.

You guys would have loved old St Lambert then. Back in the day I decided to go with realistic darkness for a nighttime setting. AKA, it was god damned black and explosions lit up the stormy night as often as the lightning.

Rain puts a considerable graphics strain on your computer.

Anyone who cant play 4vs4s regularly would instantly find they can no longer play rainy 3vs3s

Which is why the OP said "if everyone's computers can handle it..."

Honestly though, Rain isn't that problematic as far as graphics strains go. Certainly not 3v3 jumping to 4v4 in terms of FPS drops.

Bloody hell Myst, I feel like nominating you for a community award for actually reading the finer details of one of my posts. O.O

Honestly people, for those that can handle AND tolerate it... Rain is a good feature. Makes a battle feel even more grittier.

My computer is desperatly needing a cpu and processor upgrade, and not only can i play 4v4's, but rain has never been a problem.

I want more rain, stormy night, night and anything thats non-sunny

You will change your opinion when you play with Mysthalin on a rainy map. His comp will explode!

Myst is biased, his comp is at least 6 years old. I think it uses its onboard VGA to play games.

"Aww, I was just starting to enjoy standin' in the rain" - British Commandoes

I agree that Rain/Stormyweather needs to be implemented more often, or atleast have a function to switch it on or off in everymap.

The British are hilarious when playing in the rain Tongue

Neuville has rain/lightning at night, select weather type 'Stormy'.

Are there any sunny/bright maps with rain? I can't recall. That wouldn't be depressing, just atmospheric.

A lot of maps already feature rain as a weather option, but few people actually select this since it might cause one or more players to lag their ass off. It's definitely awesome to fight in rain. (I think all mine do pretty much, Abbe winter even has snow)

<3 RTC Stormy.

But yeah, a lot of the new maps only offer one atmosphere setting, it's not much trouble adding in 2 - 3 options for people to choose from.

Rain has a depressing effect on the human mind

Rain actually calms me and makes me feel at peace, rather than depressed.

To some it may depress, to others it may calm. Depends on the person and expectations and experience.
