Out of all the times I played war back when I was a kid with the other kids of the block, only the time we once did it in the rain sits in my mind as an actually "physical" memory that I can nearly "touch".
Rain is awesome for war.
To those that accuse my rig of being crap : yeah, it is. However it still handles rain no problemo. My uni Laptop also happens to be able to do it no problem. It's at most a 2-3 FPS drop to turn on rain.

Rain calms me as well. When I see its raining outside at night, I open the window and immediatly fall asleep and have a calm good night of rest. Voting for bright map with rain, but that night rain in general out of respect for rain should be added to maps as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsI7lubCXuk^ Proof that rain is calming

8600GT? Hahahaha.
I love rain, just the presence of it makes me feel good. I can't really associate a feeling with it like being calm, depressed, etc, just enjoy it.

Don't hate on the vidcard, Artekas - it's a perfectly valid one. Could run CoH on High without much effort. The problem was my toasted mobo for the old rig.

Rain and night is fail for MP.
You may play it offline in SP but online no because
1) rain lags heavy
2) at night visibility is reduced
I want to have clear conditions for MP so i can properly micro and not worry because i cannot see my units.

So, because you think it is a bad idea for yourself, you think nobody should be entitled to the option of having it? Some people do not lag with rain. Some people can handle the visibility at night. Those that come under that category should have the option of playing in the conditions that they would like to play in. If it is implemented on a wider scale, you have a simple solution... Don't use it.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

which was not speaking for why you shouldn't play it, but rather why you think other people shouldn't play it

It's great that you can use an image of a facepalm without making any actual message, but could you go back to 4chan when you want to do that? It's a lot more productive to make actual posts here.

Dude, you rain does not lag that bad. And if you are having trouble microing your units on a rain map because 'its too dark', you might want to go to the doctor get your eyes checked or get a stronger perscription.

Changing day\evening\night\morning and weather cycles in warmap games can be really cool feature for mod. Europe in Ruins is a mod unlike any other, and if you have ever found yourself wishing that CoH felt more like the movies and stories you have seen and read about squad-level combat in WW2 – then look no further.

I don't see how anyone can be against rain as an option. I personally wouldn't want to play in rain but hell I don't care if other people do in games I'm not in. It's only being proposed as an option.

It's more like "urban legend" that rain by itself lags. It actually doesn't.
But in any case, having more maps (ideally all) with more weather/atmosphere options would be great. That would leave it up to participants on which one they decide and agree to play.
Sunny is good, but gets boring and repetitive.
offtopic: i'd love to see more snow maps too.

I prefer to play in sunny weather, and pretty much play sunny games exclusively. I don't mind having the option to play rainy games, so long as everyone in the game agrees to it. The problem comes with players like WildZontar, who is so patently obnoxious in his demand to play rainy games that it really starts to grind on one's nerves. Rain does reduce your performance, and is distracting in a lot of ways. I'd rather concentrate on playing the game + having good performance, rather than playing a rainy game 'because it's cool.'
I say flat-out no to snow, though, as most people seem to think snow = bloom, and that just makes maps unplayable.
In the end, I'd rather have our mappers creating new maps, rather than editing our current ones to add in rain. If you want something new, demand a new map, not some atmosphere settings.
