Er why was this change to Pzgs done... again???

Back in the day when I was active enough in EiR (playing all 4 factions to T4, many games) I proposed normalising PE infantry to use infantry armour instead of soldier armour, and increasing the HP. This was accepted and tried - for a while.

Which is exactly what is happening again; now.

The thing was, THAT change was reverted because the higher base HP made PZGs too good against certain weapons, but infantry armour made them horribly weak against many other types of weapons, which screwed up balance totally that the soldier->infantry armour change for PZGs was reverted to avoid having to re-balance every single weapon in the game.

So; what was the rationale for re-doing a change that was found to be detrimental to the mod in the first place? Also, why 5 pop? PZGs are quite weak; was this even an issue in the first place?

Remember that PE support vehicles cost more pop than their ami/wehr/CW equivalents - having 4 pop PZGs helped to even that out. Now it makes it very hard for PE to field a pop-effective call-in.

That change had been reverted because tommies had become absolutely retarded - there was no issue with the panzergrens.

Though I do agree that panzergrens should still get 85 HP/man and a buff to their rifles for what they cost.

50mm HTs are 5 pop just like ATgs. PE also has access to a number of MG variants, of which the majority are 3 pop. IHTs and ATHTs are 3 pop as well. The only notable exception here is the mortar HT which at 6 pop is 2 pop more than the other faction's mortars. (Not being vehicles though)

So stating that all PE's support units are more expensive on pop is a gross exaggeration.

May be abit off topic here but the mortar hts extra pop is justified through its much harder to catch then a normal mortar and cant be counter mortared

and  what  about the recrew ability?
every  single  main line inf  (appart from wehr grens) can recrew 2 pieces of abandoned equipmnet,while pgrens  can only recrew one.
as i said i agree on assault grens  and tank busters  to  be at 5 pop fair enough (as long as we fix piat sappers aswell)
but  not  for  pgrens.

wasn't sprint going onto the sargent upgrade part of this buff/nerf for pzgrens.

I stand corrected on the pop differential between the other 3 factions & PE - forgot that ATGs now cost 5 pop, up from 4 pop.

Still, what is the rationale for the change to PZGs, which we have tried before?

And where does that leave British tommie infantry, which still have soldier armour, i presume?

Like Mysth pointed out, the change was largely reverted because of how broken it made tommies. PE really didn't have a share in the 'revert' you are referring to. They were just reverted along with it, when really there was no good argument for that.

Hence why it was decided, unanimously (that's 10 people mind you), to adopt the PE change again.

sorry mods but i have been using the grens for some while now and i aint happy, for units  like assult grens die like flyes to bars now for some reason and i have been unable to use them the aggressivly as i should have, they die to rifles of all even in cover aganst most infantry.
who know maybe the nerfing was just that bad or the typing in numbers got accidentaly fucked up.
well i wont be using them anymore or atlest very little.

To tell the truth I dont really like the new change, I kinda want it reverted. The new Pgrens combat efectiveness isnt the same of how much its worth. 120 munitions and alot of manpower just to get killed by a cheap rifleman squad with a bar.
