I wonder how it would play out, if say the team that start at the very far end of the map (with no land just the two tips) split up that team, so the team is seperated into two man groups (referign to a 4v4 of course) and those two groups attack the defending side, or the side that start in a big group.

would they just rush one side, would that tactic be demolished if the side defending its narror corridor correctly, would it disadvantage the attackign team or would it be the complete opposite. oh the possiblities.

3a1(where a represents 'and') Demon.

The 4rd player could take Artillery equipped units and the 1 player could take predominantly slowing and defensive units. HMG's Mines, etc.

In the scenario where it's a forced 2a2 even accounting for perfect planning the 2a2 team just wouldn't be able to know which lane was being pressed and thus could not try and account for both offense and defense. Your best bet is something in the extreme, Like dual offense on both sides. So while your 2 Offensive mobile players are running into 3 players(and losing a Numbers game) your other 2 Offense built players should be pressing through a single player with only minor setback

But if a teams strategy is based on that, would the 2a1 overwhelm the 1 and proceed to flank the 3a2? would that be a bad strategy unless 1 is able to hold 2 for long enough till 3 overwhelmed 2 and proceeded to support 2a1?

The player who is solo doesn't need to advance to contact with the enemy team. He simply has to build defenses early on his half. His job isn't to triumphantly raise the skills of his foes it's to bleed them and slow them. Mines, Tank traps, HMG's. ATG's. maybe even an MG bunker or MG nest

So all of this is viable, if a team is split, there would be no implications on gameplay, just abit of foreplanning?

It'd definitely be worth a try. But from a strictly logical theorycraft standpoint the 3a1 Team wins.

In an RTS game the Attacker always has the Initiative and advantage of knowing where he wants to attack. Thats why Attacking with Sight units is always better then defending with sight units.

However, if the attacking 3a1 has offmaps, the bunched "sallying" defenders might infact lose more then required to take any advnatage
