Hey guys, I'm looking for some games to play that are mostly from before 2008, because my specs are:

Pentium 4 3.20 GHZ
2 GB RAM
Nvidia GT240 (pretty good, but gets handicapped by RAM and weak processor)

I like tactical shooters, but dont give me like Operation flashpoint, or something with really shitty graphics

I also like RTS, but not the kind like Age of Empires with base building and shiet, more like the Total War series

Thanks in advance

http://www.fileplanet.com/156136/150000/fileinfo/Ground-Control-(Free-Game)

Ground Control. Think of this games singleplayer as the early early version of EiR.

Units gain veterancy, but sadly you cant see what the bonus's are. But looking at a rookie tank squad to a blood veteran tank you can clearly see that the blood veteran scatter is alot lower.

Weapons only use mainly Scatter, meaning there is no 100% to hit on most weapons, its weither the shot scattered into them or not. The few exeptions are air units homing missiles, which can still be dodged.

Units have resistance, which is armour basicly, instead of penetration chances it just reduces dmg taken. For example a marine shooting at a heavy terridine(tank) front will only deal 0.01 dmg(I think)

Unit resisistance decreaess on top, side, and rear, so you can do good ol' flanking for maximum damage, but watch out for friendly fire! Your own heavy tanks shooting at your medium tanks right infront of them isn't a pretty sight.

Units are put into squads.

All units have a abiliies which you pick before battle.

Weapons apear to be quite balanced, a heavy terridine has trouble hurting infantry compared to a medium terridine, so you can't just spam.

So basicly yeah, its like baby coh.

Some of us aren't able to afford such things.
I'm in college, which is fulltime education, and although I have a part time job, it doesn't pay well enough for me to be able to buy a swanky new pc.

Besides, I play on my laptop, and this is like the only game I have installed on it, and it serves its purpose.

I'm living on a £440 quid laptop because it simply doesn't make sense to be buying anything more expensive than that at university, personally.

I COULD afford a better one but why would I? My uni work is already threathened by my part-time work, social life and god knows how many hours I spend wasting on you hapless lot.. if I also had a PC that could actually run games, I'd be utterly buttfucked(I'm already skimping on sleep).

Mostly you lose. If you should happen to Win, you're doing it Wrong.

Your greatest enemy in Dwarf Fortress is.. yourself.

I don't even know how many times I've played Xcom 1. This game is still enjoyable, up to day.
