The post ~halfway up the previous page is most likely Gold/Juno beach, both of which were very flat and had the beach running almost right up to the coastal towns and settlements. Made for different pro's and cons from the cliffs; on one hand bunkers stood out and were at eye level, and most German defenders were garrisoned in civilian housing or even just sheds within sight of the beach, but on the other there was relatively little to hide behind--unlike Omaha and Utah that had rock outcroppings scattered about.
